It is a renovated traditional Cretan house (dated back to 19th century and classified as an archaeological site) where you can relax while being a few minutes away from the buzz of the city centre; it is ideal for couples, families and friends. Living there is a journey through the past with all todays’ comforts. THE STORY This house belongs to my family and one year ago my father and I decided to renovate it. The house was completely ruined and my dad and I worked hard in order to revive it. It is considered an archaeological site, therefore, we had to preserve its unique architecture. All rooms are connected to each other through a yard which is the old structure of the Cretan local houses. It is a fully equipped house on two floors. The space consists of three rooms along with a small yard and a lovely terrace. On the ground floor there is one bedroom with a private toilet, the kitchen/living room and a small yard with traditional table and chairs, where you can enjoy your coffee in the morning. On the second floor, there is another bedroom with a private toilet and the terrace with a wooden pergola, where you can spend your time during the evening. In the kitchen/living room you will find a traditional sofa, smart TV, table, chairs and a fully equipped kitchen that will allow you to cook at home in all comfort. Water, coffee, tea, cretan olive oil, local salt, oregano and pepper as well as local raki (a traditional delicious, grapes based, alcoholic drink) are also complimentary. My dad and I spent a lot of time rebuilding this house, taking care of every detail. I designed all furniture with love and passion in order to create a home, where anyone would feel comfortable & happy to live in. All wooden furniture is handmade, produced by a talented local craftsman. All curtains, pillow covers, table clothing and bed covers are handmade by my grandmothers. It has been an incredible feeling to rebuild a house from the ground up with my dad & this is what makes it invaluable for me. AVAILABILITY I am available via phone, Whatsapp and email. All contacts will be provided with the confirmation of the reservation. NEIGHBOURHOOD Close by you will find some authentic local coffee shops, restaurants and grocery shops. For recommendations on things to do around the city and the best food experiences, please do not hesitate to get in touch! GETTING AROUND The house is located in the heart of Heraklion within the Venetian City Walls and close to the Cultural Conference Centre of Heraklion. It is only 4 mins walk away from the Central Flea Market, 7 mins walk away from the Lion Square and 10 mins walk away from the Archaeological Museum and the Venetian Fortress of “Koule”. The bus station to Knossos Palace and the airport along with many beaches in the North such as Ammoudara or Karteros is also 2 mins walk away from the house.
