Grubby with unhelpful staff and uncomfortable beds

Posted 28-Jul-2018
Staff are very unhelpful and unsympathetic. Rooms are grubby and beds are horrific it was like lying on bricks. For £130 I was disgusted and after a horrendous day that the staff didn’t care about I just left the hotel. It was absolutely awful.

Dated and old hotel, not consistent with the Hilton brand. The room was TINY. No air conditioning. They did not recognize me as a Hilton member, and the staff, upon check in, left much to be desired. We will not stay here again. I am not familiar with the Edinburgh area, so I can't make an alternative recommendation in the price point. We moved to the Waldorf on our second night, but it's not fair to compare the 2.

Not what i expected from Hilton

Posted 24-Jul-2018
Parking was not available and was a 16 minute walk away and £12.50 for 24 hours(this price is heavily discounted already) The bed was creaky at the slightest movement and was rock hard. There was little water pressure for the shower and once water had ran through the drain there was an awful smell in the room which got so bad we had to close the bathroom door and leave the extractor running to try and get rid of it. "Full channel list on the TV" gave us 4 channels to choose from and the signal was so poor it was pointless even trying. We only stayed 1 night which rendered it useless complaining at the hotel as i didn't want to be moving rooms at midnight after walking around the center all day Not the same experience i've had when staying at the Hilton before.

We stayed here as we had an early flight the next morning. It's about 15 mins walk from the main train station. 2 mins from Waverly. £20 taxi ride to the airport. The room was compact. Very clean. Exactly what we needed. The check in/out was easy and the staff were very helpful.

This is one of Hilton’s older and less luxurious properties and hence also the less expensive tariff. It is also a little further away from the center of town than other more expensive hotels. Only complaint we have is the breakfast food was substandard and there is no excuse for that. However staff were friendly and helpful and up to usual Hilton standard.

Very Disappointing!

Our expectations were not met. The location, car parking and quietness was fine however, this was all I could recommend about this Hilton Hotel The front desk staff were not welcoming and it took 10 minutes to check in with only 2 people in front of us. The rooms were dated, dirty and small. The bathroom was dated, clean but you could only get 1 person in at a time. There was only internet available in the main building. Our room was located in a different building which had no staff manning the reception desk and we were not asked if we needed any help carrying luggage to it. The 2 single beds were exactly that, small singles that felt as hard as a board which the next day I could hardly move and still 4 days later taking pain killers. The view was of the buildings opposite which are beautiful, however the windows were filthy and on the cill was an old electric box with no wires attached, with pigeon muck all over it. We skipped breakfast the next morning as could not face it and the check out was just the same as the check in. No thank you, or welcomes, or how was your stay. Quite honestly I could have spent my £175 on staying at a hostel for 4 nights and got a better service.

The hotel does NOT have parking as advertised and the nearest car park is a 15 minute walk! Do not have a room that overlooks the road. Staff were friendly. Room was small and noisy outside.
