The charming condo has two bedrooms, with the option to use the second bedroom for a third guest or as a home office, a nicely appointed kitchen, and a comfortable living and dining area with great ocean views through the lanai doors and oversized windows. The shaded balcony lanai has seating for 2, and is the perfect spot to enjoy an ocean sunset with a cocktail! Please note that the bedrooms are separated from the main living space via sliding shoji screens; while the screens offer visual privacy, they are by no means soundproof. The amenities at Hanalei Colony Resort make this the perfect spot for a slow-paced, easy vacation. Walk just a few steps and you're right on a warm, sandy beach away from any crowds! Or, spend a day by the pool and hot tub, lounging in the sun and grilling in the outdoor kitchen. If you need to truly unwind and pamper yourself, the Hanalei Day Spa is just across the parking lot and offers some incredible services (can you say beachside couple's massage?). You'll also find the Opakapaka grill & bar on site for some tasty seaside bites, as well as the Na Pali Art Gallery & Coffee Shop where you can peruse some beautiful art while enjoying a morning brew. Additionally, there is an on site coin-operated laundry room, so be sure to bring some quarters! (the front office can usually make change if you don't have any quarters) For those of us that like to get out and about, Hanalei Colony Resort C4 is still conveniently close to many attractions. Take a quick 15 minute drive and you're in the heart of Hanalei town, with all its charming boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. Grab a bite to eat or a shave ice before heading to the iconic beaches of Hanalei Bay for the day. Tunnels Beach, perfect for snorkeling, is only 3 minutes away driving, or 20 minutes on foot if you prefer to walk it. Ha'ena Beach is just another 3 minutes down the road, and is an absolute hidden gem with pristine waters and some of the best sunsets in the world. You're also just 10 minutes away from the Limahuli Gardens & Preserve, which offer an introduction into native Hawaiian culture and its ties to the natural landscape against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and the Pacific Ocean. For any basic grocery needs, as well as delicious sandwiches, acai bowls, coffee, and shave ice, head 3 minutes down the road to the Wainiha Country Market. You'll also find a lovely selection of local goodies you won't be able to resist. Please note that Hanalei Colony Resort was built in simpler times in a more remote location. The resort was designed with the untouched environment as the main draw, and does not offer all the luxuries of modern resorts. There is no dishwasher and no TV in the unit (although there is Wi-Fi), and it takes longer to access the rest of the island. Drive time to Princeville and Kilauea is roughly 30 minutes, to the East Side (where the airport is) is 70 minutes, and to the South Shore is over 90 minutes. We highly recommend renting a car, as third party guests are unfortunately NOT able to use the resort shuttle services. We do, however, encourage guests to take advantage of the North Shore Shuttle, which services locations such as the Wainiha Country Market, Limahuli Gardens, and Ha'ena State Park. The shuttle will pick you up right in the parking lot of Hanalei Colony Resort (super convenient!), and advance reservations are required. This is an upstairs unit. You must be able to go up and down 2.5 flights of stairs (roughly 25 steps) to access the unit. There are no elevators. As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned, however there are ceiling fans in each space to help with air flow. Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party. So quiet, lush and private. Has a beautiful ocean view from the deck where we enjoyed coffee each morning and cocktails each evening! It had everything we needed during our stay - ceiling fans were nice to help breeze flow through. No AC but the ocean breeze was sufficient at keeping us cool most nights. Was heavenly to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean each night! Pool area was really nice, there is an ice machine and filtered water machine up by the laundry area - we figured that out after a couple days and it was a really nice amenity. Beaches near are quiet and beautiful. It was the perfect place for our vacation! It may not be for everyone, but I loved that instead of hearing TVs blaring at night, you could hear people laughing and conversing. And the highlight of the trip was an overnight power outage! Kauai is very dark anyway, but without any artificial lights, it was something else to gaze up at the stars while listening to the waves hammer the beach in front of the resort and the wind whipping around the buildings. Well kept unit in an older complex. Overall we were quite happy with this spot. I knew ahead of time that it's an older property, but that said, this particular unit was well kept up (I did not see any other units). The unit, while not large, was larger than I expected with a decent sized seating area/living room. The daybed is set off in a separate area with closet style doors that can be closed to separate it. The listing notes these doors do not go to the ceiling, nor do the doors for the main bedroom area - so do not expect complete privacy if traveling with others. The openings do help with airflow, as do separate ceiling fans in all of these areas. The kitchen is very, very small, but it was sufficient for our needs and had a good variety of kitchen equipment that we needed. The daybed is decent, but fairly firm and not the most comfortable thing I've slept on, but certainly better than most hide-a-beds. We appreciated that there was a cooler, 4 beach towels and 2 beach chairs to use. Being as this unit that is for 3 people, I do think they need to add a 3rd chair on the lanai, as we would have appreciated all being able to sit out there together. It would have also been nice to have a 3rd beach chair. This property is directly on a beach, although we thought this area was a little too rough for us to swim (mid-April 2024). There was a spot close that seemed calmer and you can walk the beach a long ways either direction. Tunnels is walkable from here. ##### Jessica W. My partner and her son, who stayed at another condo there enjoyed karaoke on Saturday night at the bar, they stopped at 10pm. Lucky we had quiet neighbors. The only noise we had sporadically was people locking and unlocking their cars but that’s not to bad. Being on the top floor is nice too.
