Pleasant hotel ideal for New Forest and Lymington

Posted 08-Dec-2015
Pros: Attractive property in quiet location with adequate parking. Positive and helpful attitude of the private owners.
Cons: The new owners seem to have everything planned to improve the hotel but they will have to complete the refurbishment of the rooms as a priority.
Location: Ideally situated for exploring the New Forest either in summer or winter. Lymington, it's market and harbour are a short drive and Bournemouth 30 mins
This hotel is under new private ownership following years of decline. The restaurant and bar have recently been refurbished to a very high specification and there still appears to be much work planned for the future. Once complete there is no doubt this will be a very comfortable and desirable hotel. I believe a number of the rooms have already been refurbished but we had one that although spacious, clean and comfortable was very tired, especially the bathroom but that was all reflected in a discounted price. The restaurant menu had a good selection of food and wine and the service was very good. The modern bar is a feature and there is a very comfortable seating area. the décor is of a very high standard. There is no doubt that with the money already invested and with the continuing refurbishment this hotel will become very popular.

Revamp

Posted 14-Nov-2015
Pros: The area.
Cons: As mentioned above.
Location: Close to beach and New Forest
Hotel recently taken over and in the throws of being updated, speaking to the new owners they outlined their plans and hopefully all work will be completed by April 2016. Will be worth revisiting as the hotel is situated in a nice area.

Enjoyable 2 day break

Posted 06-Nov-2015
Pros: Restful, quiet, super food and attentive staff
Cons: Bathroom fan needs fixing and general decor needs updating.
Location: Lovely quiet location. Spent all of the second day at Beaulieu which is well worth a visit.
Booked with some trepidation as it had had a few bad reviews. However from arrival to departure I was very impressed with the whole package. Having only just taken over the Hotel (4 days to be exact) , I was very impressed with what had already been done to improve the guests experiences. Apart from a few little niggles which I was assured are in had, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Spur of the moment stay

Hotel was being refurbished while we were there. It was ok for a one night stay, huge twin room, spotless and good breakfast.

Staying in Milford On Sea

Posted 07-Oct-2015
Pros: Room size and breakfast - set in lovely grounds
Cons: Refurb of bathroom
Location: Great location, near the sea and not far from Beulieu
My wife and I arrived about 6 pm for a nearby evening event. Check in was quick, the room was enormous although the bed wasn't. A large twin sink bathroom had a quite weak shower in the bath with a very leaky screen. The whole room was tired and ready for an upgrade. Breakfast was good, quick and plentiful. We would stay again but it was expensive.

Nice traditional hotel near the sea

We loved our stay at South Lawn Hotel. It wouldn't please today's minimalist chrome chair types but we loved the curtains, the room, the grounds and the extremely attentive waiters at the excellent breakfast.

Stay here, eat in the village

Posted 20-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Room was fine, clean and reasonably spacious but eat somewhere else! Décor is faded and common areas (stairs etc.) in need of refurbishment. Limited menu in restaurant and in bar with slow service. Disappointing that they do not compete with some excellent eateries within walking distance in the village centre.

Stay here but dine elsewhere.

Posted 10-Sep-2015 on Hotels
The hotel was comfortable, and the price very reasonable. However, the dinner was expensive and nothing special. There was aolso a massive mark-up on the wine list eg £29 for a bottle of Fleurie! We noticed that although the hotel was quite full, only 3 couples stayed for dinner.

Pleasant stay in a hotel that was nice enough, although a bit 'tired'. WiFi, as specified, was unavailable in rooms - only in public areas. A little refurbishment could make this a very nice hotel

Ruhige Lage des Hotels außerhalb von Lymington

Posted 07-Sep-2015
