Lovely hotel set back from the road

Location: About 10 minutes walk to the village green with good pubs and shops. Well worth doing the trip to Hurst Castle.
Lovely hotel, set back from the road just on the way into Milford on Sea, with large grounds overlooking fields. Good sized room with extra large bed and modern bathroom (although wardrobe unit in room needs updating). Friendly helpful staff and reasonable priced restaurant.

A pleasant weekend break

my friend and I came for a weekend break with our dogs away from our families. We were very comfortable with good facilities and cream teas and excellent breakfasts. We were a bit disappointed with the limited evening meal menu and dined out instead.WE enjoyed the extensive grounds although it was very cold.

I'm sorry you find the evening menu limited, we offer a table d'hôtel style menu which is 2 course or 3 course price, plus our main menu has 14 different main courses along with various starters & puddings and there is a bar menu offering sandwiches and salads. If there is something you prefer chef is always willing to discuss menus with you.

The location was good for Lymington and attending the Boat jumble and Beaulieu Motor Museum. The hotel had a very comfortable lounge/bar area which has been modernised. Our room was spacious with two arm chairs and nice view across the fields. However the bed was very uncomfortable and we would not have wanted to spend longer there because of this. Staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel has a very unusual system whereby it is not possible to pay for your room in advance if you wish to leave early morning before the front desk is manned. We would recommend this hotel.

Newly refurbished, under new management

Pros: The newly refurbished bar and restaurant areas, plus our shiny, new bathroom!
Cons: There are still areas to be worked on, but these have been planned for.
Location: The hotel is about 1 mile outside Milford on Sea, which is very picturesque. Hurst Castle is worth a visit by boat, Milford Tennis Club is nearby!
We have stayed here twice before and found the hotel to be old-fashioned and dated. However, the new owners have completely refurbished the downstairs, providing a modern, welcoming reception area, restaurant and new bar area. The rooms are partly refurbished, with new bathrooms, and there are plans to complete the rest of the rooms in the future. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent in the new restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Very good restaurant

Pros: Restaurant very good. Staff excellent
Cons: Bathroom completely replaced
The staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much bother. Room although large with comfortable beds and lots of storage was let down by the bathroom and toilet, which were in dire need of replacing. Bath and toilet suite 'avocado' which shows how old, toilet stained, crooked, toilet roll falling off the wall. This did not stop us enjoying our stay, but it was a shame as the bar area looked liked it had been redecorated but was in need of a clean. This should not put you off going there as it was in nice grounds, food was great, staff great just a little attention to detail and this would be a great hotel

Hello Jen, Thank you for taking the time to review. We have made a start on our bathrooms but haven't as yet managed to do them all, if you do re visit I am sure you will see a vast improvement. We only bought the hotel in October and are chipping away as much as we can when we can, the restaurant was our first project. I hope we do see you again.

Puzzle Distraction

It was just what we needed. Totally relaxing in comfortable surroundings. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. We loved the facility to do the puzzle. Great idea. Keep this up.

Pleasant hotel ideal for New Forest and Lymington

Pros: Attractive property in quiet location with adequate parking. Positive and helpful attitude of the private owners.
Cons: The new owners seem to have everything planned to improve the hotel but they will have to complete the refurbishment of the rooms as a priority.
Location: Ideally situated for exploring the New Forest either in summer or winter. Lymington, it's market and harbour are a short drive and Bournemouth 30 mins
This hotel is under new private ownership following years of decline. The restaurant and bar have recently been refurbished to a very high specification and there still appears to be much work planned for the future. Once complete there is no doubt this will be a very comfortable and desirable hotel. I believe a number of the rooms have already been refurbished but we had one that although spacious, clean and comfortable was very tired, especially the bathroom but that was all reflected in a discounted price. The restaurant menu had a good selection of food and wine and the service was very good. The modern bar is a feature and there is a very comfortable seating area. the décor is of a very high standard. There is no doubt that with the money already invested and with the continuing refurbishment this hotel will become very popular.
