As a travelling rep, I'm not too fussy about where I stay. I only really expect a few things - a decent kip, a hot shower in the morning and a decent cup of coffee at breakfast. Unfortunately I was let down on all counts. Firstly, after being stung £10 for parking (please make it clearer in your headline rate that you charge for parking. I wouldn't mind, but your hotel isn't even in the centre of town), I was kept up most of the night as the idiot next door decided to leave their bathroom light on so the fan whirred throughout the night. I thought I could liven myself up with a hot shower, but there was no hot water, so the best I got was a basin wash with cold water. Then, to top it off, my morning coffee was made with long-life milk. I told the receptionist about the cold water issue, but all she said was "ok, I'll get onto someone to look into it." No apology. She couldn't have cared less. So, I return today from Winchester to Yorkshire tired, a bit smelly, and on the lookout for a Costa.

Excellent choice, just read the small print.
This is a good, solid option close to Winchester. It is not in or close to town, but it is new, clean and well equipped. The gym for example is excellent by comparison with most. Food offering also above average if pricey. Service uniformly good too. Be a little careful of the stealth pricing though. £10 to park your car overnight is silly, and isn’t obviously advertised on the booking sites.

Convenient for the Science Centre
A bright, modern hotel with a decent food offering. Not easy to control the room temperature (Room 347) but it was fine for me because I don’t like sleeping in a hot room. From Jan 2024 they are going to charge £10 per night to use the car park, which seems like an unnecessary “money grab” and would put me off staying here again. Quiet location but very convenient for the Science Centre.

The hotel staff were extremely accomodating and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was clean and tidy. The breakfast meal was hot and well presented. If we ever go back to Winchester I would definitely stay there again

Great downstairs bar and coffee area. Bathrooms are very tired and you need a ladder if short legs to get out the bath/shower. A very strange situation. Bedrooms very clean and tidy. Be aware it is a 40 Minute walk into town via a muddy path so bring your boots. Local taxi is very good and not expensive but needs pre booking.

Hotel is good however , wasn’t told at check in that I didn’t have breakfast included and to use the swimming pool I would be charged £25 ! Went down to spa and said I just wanted to use the pool to be told they wanted payment of £25 where it’s complimentary for guests generally. Outrageous. Service from the girls at the bar was very good and flexible when I wanted to tweak the menu slightly .

Thank you for staying with us. We apologise for not informing you that you didn't have breakfast. With regards to the pool, we do not have a swimming pool in the hotel, the spa have a plunge pool which is not complimentary to guests, its chargeable to all guests that use it.

Nice stay at Holiday Inn Winchester. Staff were accommodating of our early departure and opened b’fast early. Room was clean and spacious. Only criticism was that we booked a family room but the third bed in room was a collapsible fold up bed and it was very uncomfortable!

Don't bank on a good breakfast.
Hotel was OK. The breakfast was poor. Buffet half empty, coffee machine inadequate for no. of guests. One member of staff surly and unhelpful. The lady replenishing the buffet was overstretched. Coffee, when we eventually got it, was undrinkable.

A very pleasant four night stay at this property and good value. The room was very comfortable and breakfast and dinner fine and I liked the atrium area for evening drinks and dinner. The only very minor issue was that the spa was not included in the price and it was only a health spa and no swimming pool and gym. Virtually every other hotel I stayed in the pool and gym and spa facilities are included for guests. Otherwise that was one very minor issue and hardly an issue at all as I had plenty of other things to keep me occupied. I was very pleased with the quiet location away from main roads and the city centre.

Handy location to visit Winchester
The hotel was cold and corporate with no personality, suitable for company reps, meetings etc. only. The dining room was like a staff canteen and the food average. The room was very basic, plain and not welcoming. The bed was hard as a board and the the pillows rock hard and too thick. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Good size room for three with a nice bathroom and everything we needed. Food was expensive at dinner. Didn’t get the 2 for £25 offer on the initial bill but was corrected and knocked £30 off.

Good room, great staff, average food
Decent hotel, free parking, room was very clean and spacious with AC. The food from the bar was a bit of a letdown for the price but still perfectly edible. Staff were very welcoming and polite. For the price paid for the room was very happy, if had paid the walk up rate of (over double) I would have been underwhelmed so shop around for good deal.
