Great looking hotel but held back by poor service

Posted 05-Aug-2016
We had a terrible experience. We arrived and there was a wedding so there was no bar or restaurant services available, not told before arrival. We called to order room service (which was available) and we were told we couldn't by some incompetent member of staff. This is the worst hotel i have ever been to. Poor service which is so unfortunate because the grounds and hotel itself is beautiful, it could be a great hotel.

Worst hotel room ever

Posted 12-Apr-2016
We stayed for two nights on the 5&6 April 2016. We had a tiny room with an equally small bathroom and a shower which we struggled to turn round in. The light above the bed had an inch of dust all over it and looked like it had never been cleaned. We were in the upstairs of the main house and had to listen to what sounded like an extractor fan until after 11pm only to be woken by the same fan at 6am and doors banging downstairs every 2-5min. We tried to complain as we were leaving but the man on reception was so stressed about the fact we wanted to pay cash for our room service (which was also appalling) that he ignored us and after 20mins of him faffing around we ended up paying on card!! Very disappointed with our stay and won't be returning!!!!

Don't be fooled by photo.

Very disappointing as rooms set in far corner of grounds , inadequate parking, ( we could not find a space), window was in ceiling so no view and felt like a cell. Wi fi very poor, could not use. Signs unable to see and find in the dark. Rooms and facilities are for business men, so this probably does not bother them as there other adjacent facilities. Would not go again.

Disgruntled De Vere (ex) Customer

Posted 21-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Was disappointed to find that the building I was staying in was an 800m walk from the hotel...in the dark. Try and drive your car down there if there is space though that is limited. Took over an hour for my meal to arrive at the bar, which I had hoped would be faster than the restaurant as I wanted to see the football. Arrived at the bar and ordered my meal at 19:00, meal turned up at 20:10. Totally unacceptable and will not be staying here again. I stay in hotels a couple of nights each week and this is by far the worst for a long time. What has happened to De Vere as a similar thing happened when I stayed at their Wokefield Park hotel

Not great to be honest.

Avoid room 17 or any room in vacinity. I was allocated this room but it happens to be above the kitchen so I was subject to the constant drone from kitchen extractors until 11pm. The started up again at 6am.... Not pleasant and comfortable stay. Also breakfast was awful. Dry and cold bacon with rubbery fried eggs that had been sat for ages.
