There was no reception facility on this hotel, it was written to go to reception on second building (which was another hotel). When we booked this hotel, it was mentioned that "parking available for the price of €4.50 per day but when we arrived in the hotel they were demanding €15 per night. We had to pay €30 per night for 2 cars.

Make sure to clean up the room, bed sheet & Toilet. Do not kick out if someone still having breakfast, the time limit for breakfast is 10 AM, NEVER tell your guest at 9.35 AM to quick finish their breakfast. There is no common place that we can sitting in open space. Apparently, my room view was prostitution area, I didn't know this until in the next morning, no wonder there were a lot of noise at night.

Absolutely terrible service, kicks up a fuss over the smallest issues (like asking for hot water, which they said we could, but then told us “This is Deutschland, nothing’s free” and refusing to give it to us). Asked for his name so that I could complain, he threatened to call the police. When I agreed, he called some random bodyguard instead who told us to get out of the hotel. Place was filthy, even the plates at breakfast were caked with the dried remains of someone else’s meal. Lady at breakfast yelled at us not 2 steps into the area to sit exactly where she dictated. When we chose to sit at another table, she pulled my mother’s chair away and took it to another table. Absolutely appalling. Found someone’s sock in my room. Sock remained for two nights and was still there at checkout. Lift only goes from the second to the fifth floor, so if you get a room on the sixth floor you’re going to have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs. The area is crawling with dodgy people, with lots of yelling and smashing bottles at night. Avoid this hellhole like the plague. Pay a bit more for a better hotel. Anywhere but here. At the very least, you’d expect not to be abused at a hotel you paid more than a hundred euros for, or not see a decade’s worth of dust clogging up the heaters.

Very old and not clean!! The Toilette Seat was broken and standing next to the Toilette! Plug in in bed room was broken as well, coming out of the wall and not working!

Very disappointing room. Poor dated decor, first room had broken shower, the second was quite dirty. Despite non smoking room people had clearly been smoking and it stank. The area is a bit run down and seedy at night. Breakfast was very basic and the food limited in choice and some bread stale. Evening receptionist was a bit rude.

Rooms are tired and run down. Couldnt get anywhere else because an event was on. Luckily we only spent a couple of hours there to sleep otherwise would have changed. Staff we friendly enough

Stay was good. Air con would be a bonus if hot weather outside but we survived without. Breakfast lady was grumpy but that only made us to smile. Staff otherwise friendly. They told me taxi to the airport would cost over 50€ but I found a mobile application and ended up paying under 30€. Staff should really know these things better. Overall experience was great. Hamburg is a lovely city and hotel Mercedes is a great hotel for those who don't demand too much.

pretty good for the price
I was happy. My room was comfortable, clean, quiet and for a single, quite spacious. And you don't expect the full works at breakfast in this budget, so I was very happy with the selection, and particularly enjoyed the sesame seed rolls. Yes the area is a bit seedy but what do you expect if you're near the station. The Alstersee is just 10-15 mins walk and a great place to sit and chill and watch all the watersports going on. Reception staff are approachable and well turned out. I'd stay here again.

Cheap and cheerful for budget travellers
After reading awful reviews we were sceptical about our stay here. However we found the hotel to be acceptable for the budget price we paid. The room was clean enough and the breakfast was more than adequate. The area was very cosmopolitan but seemed safe enough. Definitely not upmarket but great for the price.

Do not book there!
Unfriendly staff during check-in, no assistance when we complained about the very noisy fan in the bathroom and the promised but not functioning safe inside the room. Below average breakfast and even more unfriendly staff during breakfast hours. Loud road with lots of traffic and police station across (sirens did not stop all night). Strongly advise travellers to look for an alternative option.

At least there were hot water in the shower system and there were no lift and I was alocated in the top floor of the accommodation. It is convinient location for the public trasnport. There were telephone in the room but could not contact the reception as it is not working. it was just for show....

near the central station and the different types of public transport, where we can easily taken the train directly to the airport. the staff is friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs. breakfast is ok, but it lacks fruit and croissant. the major drawback was the housekeeping company that was not doing its job properly only when complaining to the front desk.

Room 54 definitely needs a new pillow... And a new bathroom... And a new toilet... Just a whole new room really. Walking up and down the five flights of stairs w luggage wasn't great either BUT Handy location and very helpful and accommodating staff

Hotel Mercedes not a Merc
Hotel in a very lively and slightly seedy area. Lots of exotic eating places to choose from. A short walk to overland bus terminal and S and U Bahn (central railway station). Hotel plain, small and a bit worn but clean. Friendly, helpful staff (not German). Very large and unlimited choice at a continental breakfast buffet.

OK. nothing more, nothing less.
For the price it was OK. Room was fine with TV, wifi, shower and 2 twin beds. Of course it is not a big or new hotel so things are a bit worn in general.
