Upon checking in, we were told that we were given a complimentary upgrade. We appreciated the gesture, but couldn’t see how the room was an upgrade. It was more like an attic room with a view of the hauptbahnhof, and a really tiny bathroom. We had to limit our movement while in the shower. Additionally, the flooring of the room was a little slanted so it didn’t feel like we were sleeping on level ground.
The heating and water pressure were all good, as was the service friendliness. Location was the main selling point for us as it was really just a 2-min walk from the train station.
The most disappointing was that we had to pay 2euros for each cup of hot water from a coffee machine at the lounge, to make tea. I would rather have paid more to loan a water kettle to have easier and unlimited access to hot water, especially since it was -2 deg cel outside. That would would have been a more reasonable provision.
