The Centrum hotel is old and dilapidated. It looks like they have not updated it since the 1970s. There are no facilities to speak of, not even a kettle to make tea. The internet is terrible. I would not recommend staying here unless there is no alternative...which was my situation. This was the only hotel available at short notice and it cost me almost $300 which is daylight robbery for such a shabby hotel.

My visit to Hamburg was really short (3 nights) and I just wanted to explore the city a little. This hotel's location is very convenient. Altona, has a great feel and is worth exploring in its own right. I didn't have enough time to check out the neighbourhood, so I hope to be back to explore it more. The single room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable and even though it felt a bit basic, it fully met my expectations (a single solo traveller). I may have been a bit disappointed at having to pay 15 Euro per night to park my car at an off-site location, but I would still be happy to stay at this hotel again next time I visit Hamburg. Highly recommended.

When we got there the hotel was closed with a note on the door. No one answered our phone call when we tried to get in touch. We had prepaid for the room and sent Horels.com a message that we were still coming and we got no email letting us know that it would be closed. We had to quicjly find another hotel at short notice and payed again!

The staff were lovely, but hotel looks a bit tired. Rooms adequate, good having a small fridge there. Breakfast was ok but limited choice. Good area 2mins from Altona train station. Great place for getting around the city.

Hamburg visit
Very good value for money, good location, very good service and spotlessly clean. Wifi not the best, but didn't matter this time as we were there to see Hamburg. Heating control seemed to have no effect on the room temperature. Overall, I'd recommend staying.

This is the 4th time we stayed at this hotel. Breakfast has a wide variety and super clean rooms. All stuff are very friendly and try their best to accommodate all needs. Location is a huge plus with tons of opportunities for eating out and shopping.

A Great Hotel to Stay
I have been Staying in the Centrum Hotel Commerz Bhf Hamburg Altona for the Past 3 Years at Christmas Time and in every year I stayed I can only describe it as Perfect the Staff are Really Friendly and Helpful it is Really Clean and the Breakfast Buffet is quite Sophisticated and The breakfast Rooms are Really Tasteful and homely all in all it is like a Family Type Hotel and I can Really Recommend this to all Types of Traveller /Holiday Situation . The Hotel is only around 500 Metres from the Main Railway Station - Underground and Bus Station in Altona and there are also Great Shops and Restaurants Close by Too.

Booked two single rooms, which are small but clean. Great location just a short walk from the centre of Altona, prices are very good, staff are helpful and friendly. Rooms could be improved by better standard of bedding (especially pillows), but overall a great place to stay if you're in Hamburg for a weekend, are on a budget and want your own room.

Centrally located near Altona train station, comfortable bed and clean room; however, our street side room was very noisy as we had to keep the windows open at night due to the hot weather. Ask for a yard side room if you expect to sleep with windows open!

No parking offered when we arrived late afternoon - although some sort of 'arrangement' seemed to be possible had we arrived earlier. Good location for transport links. Small dining room for breakfast but we were able to have a table on both mornings. Good breakfast, well served.

We arrived on a Tuesday night and checked in to room 25 which was just to small for 2 people with 2 suitcases ...we couldn’t move around easily at all. The next morning we were informed that we were able to move to room 35 which was much bigger and worked excellent. Very comfortable . The hotel has no elevator so make yourself ready to climb steps. Breakfast was very nice and staff is extremely helpful. Good WiFi .quiet neighborhood.easy access to trainstation .many choices of restaurants near by.

A good hotel, fair price, great location and decen
The hotel is located a 5 minute walk from the Altona metro. A day ticket for the central area which includes the airport for family of 5 is €12 ! We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in April 2018. The cost was good by Hamburg standards. It does not have air con and we found it rather hot sometimes and the controls are not very effective. Our flat screen medium sized TV had one English news channel. The wifi worked well on all of our devices as did out roaming when out and about in Hamburg. Facilities included a large king bed and a single, TV, fridge, chairs, wardrobe etc. There was a decent sized bathroom with an effective shower. Toilet, etc. A hair dryer was provided. There was no lift. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. I reported a broken light bulb but it was never repaired. Breakfast was from 7 to 10 and a typical but good quality continental offering was available. Tea/coffee/juice, boiled eggs, some fruit, natural yogurt, selection of breads and cold meets, cereals, etc. Great. All in all I would give them 9 out of 10 and would stay there again provided it was not at peak season as far as temperature was concerned.

Friendly budget hotel in a great area
For the price, this is a brililant hotel. Altona is a great area to stay in, and the hotel itself is clean with friendly staff. The breakfast was also really good. Admittedly it's an old building and the furniture isn't the best etc, but this wasn't an issue for us and I would happily stay here again. Considering the price, it's probably the best place we've stayed in Hamburg so far. Also, my partner left her engagement ring behind in the hotel and the staff were helpful enough to search the room for it and find it - thanks!
