"We really enjoyed our stay in Matsuzakaya Honten! The staff were very hospitable, accommodating and helpful, and the ryokan was very clean and modern, while still retaining its historical charm. We marveled at how it was like staying in a museum, a slice of history, just because of how beautifully preserved everything was. Special shoutout to Ridhan, Hema and the front desk staff (a friendly thai lady with front bangs - apologies, we didn’t manage to get your name!) who were excellent and kind to us throughout our stay."

"we adored Hata-San, our helpful friend at the hotel. the dinner and breakfast were both incredible. bathhouses were relaxing and clean. the Hakone day pass made it so easy to get everywhere but don’t forget to take time at the ryokan to re-center after travel!"

"Amazing place! The onsen was heaven sent after walking all day, used it every night. Very clean and quiet location. Staying up in the green hills with no cars, no planes, no noise was great after Tokyo. Steep hill to get up to the house. Must use the bus system, get a Suica card for sure."
