Gy en Sologne, Traditional Solognot Cottage In a charming village setting.

A traditional three bedroomed Solognot cottage. Situated in the Sologne, in the centre of the quiet village of Gy En Sologne, surrounded by woodlands, rivers, ponds and farmland. Private courtyard and terrace. Original beams throughout. Log burning fire. Well-furnished and equipped. Modern family shower room with walk in shower area.

The front door of the cottage leads into the beautifully beamed, open plan living area with ceramic tiled floor, which includes: A well equipped kitchen with a dish washer, fridge freezer and microwave oven, A dining area with traditional French furniture, A comfortable seating area with a log burning fire, double sofa bed, two arm chairs, TV/DVD player, CD/radio and a range of books, maps, information leaflets and games for all the family.

French doors open onto the courtyard and generous terrace with outdoor table and seating with an electrically operated sun canopy. Two traditional barns enclose the courtyard, with car parking which is accessible through a gated coaching passage from the street. One of the barns houses the 'cave' and an indoor table tennis table.

The ground floor also comprises of: A generous bedroom with a double bed, and a single bed with further single pull out; A spaceous recently modernised shower room with walk in shower area, washing machine and tumble dryer, and a separate toilet, understair cupboard with vaccum and cleaning tools, coat hanging cupboard with iron and ironing board. An oak staircase leads to the first floor with further bedrooms and a separate toilet.

Bedroom Two: The spacious master bedroom has been recently converted and the orignal roof beams and 'chien assis' are beautiful features. Velux roof windows create a very light and refreshing feel, offering excellent views over the quiet village square and local church. Starry night time views can be blacked out - if you really want to. The bed is kingsized. Bedroom Three: With original beams and two adult sized single beds. Ideal for children too with sliding door cupboards housing a range of toys and games for boys and girls.

The Wood: Borded by the local river, a private wood, with wintertime pond is available for picnics, nature walks and exploration. Watch out for the frogs and the lizards!

Traditional house in a quiet village
We loved our stay in the Gy en Sologne. The house is in the center of a pretty village close to the castles in the area. Clean and well maintained. It had all a family like ours (4 kids) needs, including toys and a baby bed. Stoyan

Comfortable holiday gite
We spent two weeks in this well equipped, comfortable holiday house in a very quiet and unspoilt country village. The rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. There is no garden but there is a patio with roll out awning. It was so hot while we were there we hardly sat out on it. Great area for cycling & trying to learn French - no English spoken but nevertheless kind people all around.

Cute, quaint, clean and comfortable
A very well equipped little house that worked as a good base for our week’s exploration of the Sologne area. Several well known and lesser known chateaux are within easy driving distance, and there are some nice cycling or walking tracks nearby, too. The weather was very changeable during our stay, so we appreciated both the central heating and wood burner plus the patio and sun awning. Wifi would have been good, but we were able to make use of the wifi in the friendly cafe next door while we had a coffee or aperitif.

Delightful cottage in a quiet location.
Whilst the cottage was really nice I have to make a number of comments from a personal view point. 1) the welcome pack was written only in French and I feel it would be beneficial to have a translation in 2/3 languages. 2) All of the cupboards were full of crockery and no space left to store groceries. 3) A list of closest shops/supermarkets/service stations/restaurants etc would be helpful. Also a mention of days when shops are closed. 4) A list of places of interest would be nice along with local markets. 5) A contact number in case of.emergencies.(Had I not specifically asked for a contact number in the event of our late arrival we should not have been able to gain entry to the property as it was secured and the information as to the location of the keys had not been given to me). The majority of these points are what would go toward making the stay a little more pleasurable.

Merci.
