The staff in general are very nice and attentive including front desk, housekeeping, executive lounge as well as the garden lady 万小鳳. All good except Shang Gong where our group dined three or four times but seems understaffed, thus the serving time kept being delayed.

Beautifully decorated, combining Chinese style motifs with Western comfort. Spacious room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. The hotel picked us up in a transfer van. The trunk perfectly fit 5 carryon suitcases and a few soft bags. He was waiting with a sign just as promised.

Residing in Beautiful Guilin, Guangxi, the staff endeavoured to my my partners birthday special. I am very thankful and happy about that. Also, the Shang Palace, Chinese restaurant on the group floor was excellent and we visited every night to enjoy nice clean Chinese cuisine.

My family enjoyed our stay at the Shangri-La Hotel in Guilin very much. The hotel is located right next to the river and the river views (particularly at sunset) were breathtaking. It is located a bit outside of the center of town, but within walking distance (along the river) or a short taxi ride away. While the hotel seemed to be quite full - it seemed empty at the same time. That is both a compliment and a critique - as it was quite tranquil, but also a few areas seemed to be either closed or not in operation. Overall, we would readily stay at this hotel again.

Booked a pricey room on the club floor, no complains about the room or the hotel it was excellent as expected by Shangri-la. My main issue is with the dining services which is shocking as I am frequent traveler all over Asia. I wanted to complain to the hotel GM but was not available both the times I asked the staff!! Breakfast - Service during breakfast was extremely slow and didnt really eat my usual breakfast for 2 days of my 5 days in this hotel. I usually like to have eggs for which there is a chef making eggs the way you want it, both times inspite of it being busy at 7am in the morning there is only a single chef to make eggs and his speed of making eggs was the slowest I have ever seen world over, even with 3-4 people ahead of me i couldnt get my eggs for over 20 minutes which is really pathetic. Tea and Coffee by the time you get it its not hot anymore. Pancakes was not available they only make a few at a time and it vanishes so even my boy couldnt enjoy his favourite. Since we had tours booked we didnt have extra time for breakfast and this was a complete waste Dinner buffet: Tried the dinner buffet one night at 730PM, surprisingly there was no Indian bread, like Naan or Roti available to eat with the Indian dishes there, Asked several staff including the manager of the restaurant they said no bread, eat with Rice, they are telling me how I should eat indian food. I registered a complaint but got no feedback, would like to hear back from the Hotel management !!

Very Good Service
Stayed in Horizon Club. Service was very good. Check in was fast and fuss free. The travel desk on the ground floor was also very helpful. 2 minor gripes: a) Room decor is a bit dated. It's very clean but the decor style looks dated like something from early 2000s, b) limited food choices in the afternoon. Main chinese restaurant not open throughout the day.

This was the first time we ever stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel. This was also the first time we traveled Guilin. The service at the Shangri-La Hotel was outstanding. We were greeted with a warm smile by the Demo at the check-in counter. Demo help us with getting our room, She was so friendly. I mentioned that we wanted to go see the Li-jiang. After she got our room registered, Demo took us over to another counter, informed the person what we wanted because we didn’t speak the language very well. We were able to book a river cruise for the next day. While I was being checked in, my wife was greeted by an Indonesian women by the name of Jenny. She served us Monk Fruit tea. Jenny had inform my wife about the fruit, where we can purchase some, how to make the tea, etc. Please keep in mind that there were other guest there too. Jenny took the time to talk to my wife. She answered some questions about your beautiful city. By the way did I also mention that since we arrived late, Demo asked if we had dinner yet and we told her no we haven’t. She immediately asked us if she can help make reservation for us at the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant about 9:45 and the waiter / waitress were very accommodating. We felt bad about eating there so late but they said it was no problem. Everyone there was so accommodating and friendly. Again, the hospitality at this hotel were awesome! We will definitely come back and recommend this to our friends & family!

I wish I can stay there for a longer time. We were greeted by Charles, he is the manger of the hotel. He shown and walked us to our room personally. He understood that we had to catch a train; so he called and had a taxi ready for us right away. We really appreciated his great service. The food and service at their Chinese restaurant, and at the lobby lounge were also very nice and tasty. I would definitely stay there again.

Cigarette Control Regulations in Public Areas is local regulation. Unfortunately, at present, there are no related laws or regulations explicitly stating that smoking is forbidden in public areas in Guilin. If the Cigarette Control Regulations in Public Areas takes effect in Guilin, what we can do is discouraging guests from smoking or reporting to local authority, because we have no enforcement power to control smoking behaviors. The property is perfectly fine, but showing it's age with respect to the condition of the rooms. The main issue I have as a non-smoker is the zero enforcement of smoking in non-smoking areas....especially on a non-smoking floor! The service in their buffet restaurant and the quality of the food is, in my opinion, sub-par compared to other Shangri-La hotels I have stayed. I was rudely turned away the first evening because they booked the entire place for a function or tour group. I have never experienced that at any 5-star hotel I have stayed. If you are a foreigner with a credit card and need cash from an ATM...good luck. The front desk will happily exchange cash against your card for a hefty service charge if not a Golden Circle member. The property isn't nearly as attractive as they show in the photos...neither are the views.

Excellent hotel services
The hotel staff including check-in staff and bell boys were polite and helpful. The bell boy was patient enough to show me how to go to certain destinations.
