Staff welcomed us all with ages ranging from 8 yrs to 75 and a of varying abilities. They made son's birthday special and having the grounds to run around in was a bonus. The food was lovely and our family room spacious.
A special thank you to Debbie for a cheerful and helpful breakfast service.
Pros: Pleasant and helpful staff. Secure car park. Close to town.
Cons: I stayed for 2 nights in a single room facing the road, hence it was noisey when the double glazed window was open and during peak traffic flows some noise passed through the closed window. Despite being delicious, the full English breakfast was not as generous as other hotels that I have recently stayed in. The room was very small, about 6 feet across and 9 feet long, hence there was no room for cupboards, therefore it is not suited for a longer stay. Better to book a double room if one is available and you don't mind spending about 30-40% more.
Very comfortable stay in a room worthy of an upmarket hotel. Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Fab shower with organic toiletries provided and all very clean. Good breakfast and we had a salad lunch that was really good.
A real find - definitely recommend.
We stayed here as it was local for a business trip. The food at the hotel makes it well worth the visit and booking in the restaurant is essential , it is obviously frequented by the locals and known for its good food. Unfortunately the experience was let down by the very tired room and some very shoddy housekeeping. A pillow case hung at the home made dressing table was just one of the touches that let the room down along with a toilet lid that fell off. Bedding and bathroom were very clean though. There is hope that the hotel is being renovated as we were kept awake one night by builders renovating the room next to us and if this is the case then we would 100% recommend based on location and food.
Guildford is a hotbed of history, performance art, and culture in southeast England. The final resting place of Lewis Carroll, this Surrey town was home to his family and provided inspiration for the “Alice in Wonderland” author. Outdoor markets draw weekend crowds and a monthly farmers market features the best in local produce. Guided garden and mansion tours are also popular with visitors.
