Work trip. Nice, comfortable and well appointed accommodation. A little pricy on the meals and beverages though.

Pros: Fantastic surroundings
Cons: Couldn't get a tv signal in the evening, so tv reception could be improved

Beautiful grounds, Shame about the room

Posted 08-Aug-2017
The welcome to the hotel was great and the receptionist was very helpful. Our room was not great, it was very small which is fine as it was only for a night. The bathroom only had a bath in it with a hand held shower head, again that wouldn't of been a problem if you could of stood up in the bath to shower! Well we decided we would bath instead so rolled out the bath mat and loads of coarse black hair fell out of the mat. There was also hair that needed to be removed around the bath before we got into it. The paintwork in the room was very very patchy, and poorly matched up. Breakfast was ok but bit worth the £15, it says in the menu they bring you tea and coffee and they don't To be honest I'm not sure how they class themselves as a 4* luxury boutique hotel. You'd get more for your money from a premier inn!

Great service

Check in very quick and very helpful, booking a taxi for me and even carrying my bags to the room as I was in a big big rush! Room very comfortable no issues with cleanliness. The hotel itself is beautiful set in countryside with a classy feel and plenty of parking

Country House Hotel in a peaceful location

Posted 04-Jun-2017
Visited for a family wedding. Large, stylish, recently refurbished room, well equipped, although lacking a fan (height of summer). Friendly, attentive staff. Very pleasant to sit out on the large terrace, but space limited in the indoor dining areas, which were overly warm. Free wifi was a reasonable speed.

Let down by the basics

Posted 07-Jan-2017
Cons: Bathroom
I stayed at the hotel for one night for business purposes. I stayed in on the of the rennovated rooms (around room number 23 or something). I was greeted at reception very well, and given keys to my room, which I found quite easy. First impressions of the room excellent. But the stay was let down by the bathroom. I attempted to have a shower and the water pressure was next to nothing (I pretty much had a shower with a 'slightly more than' dripping shower head). So the shower took me half hour. The shower matt was outdated and not very pleasant to be stepping on to. The bathroom as a whole didn't look to bad and I've been in worse. Quite modern. I did call reception regarding the water pressure but as it was 10pm they said that the maintenance staff had gone home and that they could possibly move me to another room but that would have to be across the courtyard. (was raining that night). I declined there offer at stuck it out. Room was decent size and everything was perfect - I was let down by my bathroom experience. If the water pressure gets fixed I would stay in the exact room again, but I would not stay at the hotel again otherwise.

Outside lovely, bedroom hugely disappointing

Posted 11-Oct-2016
Pros: Grounds, exterior appearance and walking trails.
Cons: The hotel has just been acquired by a new owner and they have a huge amount of work to do to improve the quality of the accommodation
Location: In the middle of nowhere
We looked at the photos online and thought that the Barnett Hill Hotel would be a lovely place to spend a couple of days, we were wrong. The outside appearance and grounds are beautiful, the hallway, public areas and reception are very nice but the bedroom we stayed in was awful. The walls were paper thin and we could hear conversation from the guests in the room below. Dead wasps on the window ledge, dead bugs in the bathroom light fixture, peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, chipped sink, dirty grout around the bathtub, towels that were old and grey, and a general air of the room that time forgot. We had dinner on the first night and the music was loud to compete with a wedding taking place in a room close by. I had the burger, it was not a gourmet burger but one that had come out the freezer by the taste and texture. The staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was good, the woman in charge of food and beverage was excellent and found us a quiet spot to sit away from the leftover wedding party who were extremely noisy. The bar was not open until 2:00pm and even then, service was sporadic. The uht milk was not replaced in our room so the following morning we had tea and coffee black, not the end of the world but annoying. This was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

A great hotel in a fantastic location, and the staff are more than happy to help.
