Good Hotel Bad management

They Hotel itself was amazing and the staff was friendly, however BE AWARE they front desk people do not know/work with the reservations department. I stayed for my reservation and then extended a few days based on the guarantee that I could be refunded if I did not stay the extra 3 nights. I ended catching an early flight and only stayed an additional night, however they charged for the full 3 nights. When I contacted the service (hotels.com) and the Hotel refused to issue a refund based upon the fact that I made a reservation. I know it sounds exaggerated, but when confronted on the phone, that I did not stay the full stay they said I did not check out, when I sent them the check-out receipt, they said that the reservations was my commitment. When I mentioned what the staff had told me, they said that I should have cleared it through the hotel manager not the staff.
