Everything was great! Breakfast in the morning, relatively quiet for a hotel on a weekend and very clean. Thank you for a great trip!

Not what I hoped for

Posted 12-Apr-2016
When we checked in we we're out into two queens and when asked to switch hotel jargon was thrown about and I was told, "at least they tried." Won't be back! There was a beer can behind the window too!

Good Hotel to sleep in.

Posted 09-Apr-2016
This hotel gives you a decent place to stay at a reasonable rate for the area. We frequently use this hotel when we visit SLO. With so many great things to do in the area, we don't spend much time in the hotel anyway, so it's good enough for what we need. The morning breakfast which is included offers some quick ready to go snacks for the kids, but you have to get there before 9:30 am when they close up.

Nice stop on your way up or down the coast

Posted 01-Mar-2016
Pros: Staff, rooms seems clean and comfortable
Location: 3 miles to the beach and Pismo pier. Take a walk down the beach. Stop for cocktails, fried shrimp and chowder at the restaurant at base of pier.
Great for a quick overnight stay on the way up or down the coast. Rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. Staff was very pleasant, and efficient at both check-in and check-out. Breakfast was above average, including a nice selection of hot items (omelettes , delicious fresh biscuits and cinnamon rolls), as well as oatmeal, yogurts, and fresh whole fruits). The pool looked very inviting but we did not have a chance to take advantage of it. It's not a "destination" hotel for an extended stay, but comfortable if you're in the area and need a nice place to stay. The beach is only a couple of miles away and definitely worth a visit if you can get there. It is right off the freeway, and near train tracks, but we were not bothered by either.

Old hotel - Needs renovations

Posted 14-Feb-2016
Cons: Everything
Location: Great location -
They originally had us in on a room that smelled like mold and the sheets looked dirty. The hotel overall is very old and could use an update in pretty much every area. From carpets; to towels (smelled); to furniture; to sheets; paint inside is cracked and peeling off. I would say this is a 2 star hotel. I have stayed at other holiday inn hotels in CA and this is probably lowest quality one.

$180 for BS experience

Posted 19-Jan-2016 on Hotels
After arriving from a 3 hour drive, the moment my husband and I walked through the door we were greeted with rude and unprofessional customer service. There was no welcome, hi how has your night been, nothing! We received eyes as if we were intruding in on her time and just a simple checking in. Once we arrived into our room we noticed we were placed in a two double bed room when I selected a standard king bed. I called the front desk to explain we selected a king bed and was then told were considered some special word she used and that we get whatever is available. I was extremely upset and disappointed. The way they worded it was rude and made you feel as if you were low class and didn't deserve anything better. Then my husband tried to turn the TV on except it didn't work. Called the front desk again and after a irritating wait maintenance showed up and fixed it. Overall experience at this hotel was awful and I would never recommend it. As a matter of fact this is my 3rd time having an awful experience with holiday inn and I'm officially done with them! Have yet to have a problem with any other hotel. Stay away from holiday inn, it's not worth your money.

Francisco, I am terribly sorry about the experience that you had while at my property. I can assure you that I will personally speak with the guest service representative that you encountered. I do apologize about that. I understand the frustration with the TV not working but I'm glad that we were able to get that fixed with you. Thank you, Samuel M.

Grover Beach

Posted 03-Jan-2016 on Hotels
We were in the area to see the Holiday Extavangaza at The Great American Theater. We have stayed here in the past and have enjoyed the warm reception we received from the manager, Samuel. We were not disappointed this time. Sam is knowledgeable abount events and activities in the area. Complimentary breakfast is very good. We defitately will stay at Holiday Inn Express, Grover Beach, again when in the area.

Uncaring check-in clerks

Posted 03-Jan-2016 on Hotels
I was directed to a visible double door as entry to my building and floor. This from a clerk who could easily see the door, as could I. It was NOT an entry door but an EXIT door ONLY. On complaint, I got a blah response. Item 2. I hate the way the bed sheets and quilt are presented. I have to remove them all and redo the bed. Having to do that is Disgraceful. Why do hotels do this.
