All-round excellence
I dropped one star on eco-friendly because our towels were replaced even though we hung them up, as best we could, to show we would keep them. That's how deep I had to dig to find something wrong with our two night stay. Friendly and efficient service from check-in and throughout our stay. My specific room request was met and the room was as new, except for an area of carpet which had probably been assaulted in some way by one or other wedding guest, as this is the hotel's speciality. There were coach parties and groups of guests on both night we were there, and - from previous experience in other hotels - I probably wouldn't choose to stay there during the height of the wedding season. I'm old and miserable and looking, above all, for somewhere convenient to sleep when choosing a hotel, not a good time! The food in the restaurant was excellent, though pricey compared to similar restaurants in D & G, but this is prime tourism and we didn't feel ripped off as the quality and presentation were both very high. We didn't take breakfast on either day - didn't need to, portions were not stingy - so can't comment on that. Highly recommended.

Staff brilliant. Breakfast good. Wedding meal Luke warm, bland, dry tasteless. Empty salt sellers. Felt like a bridal conveyer belt. Carpets in rooms dirty. Marks on all walls. Not the romantic wedding venue we expected. Not a four star hotel. More like a basic 3 star.

Lovely reception at the desk. Lovely rooms and comfortable beds. But lots of stairs. Good selection of drinks at the bar, and not badly priced. Restaurant food was delicious but wine was expensive. Only downside was breakfast. It seemed to be short staffed (or maybe too many wedding guests for the number of staff) and therefore the selection of available foods was variable. So close but easy to improve.

It's OK
It was OK. We were wedding guests so it was chosen by the bride. We travelled a long way so stayed two nights. Our bed was a standard double. I'm still getting over it,how did we ever cope before getting our king size. The shower doors were missing a runner so the bathroom flooded and the lift was broken and our room was on the second floor so we had to carry the luggage up, and then down again when we checked out. Breakfast buffet was good though

Stayed for a wedding at 1pm on our day of arrival but nowhere provided to get changed as there were no early check in availability we had to change in our cars The rooms on floor one were lovely but from 2 upwards are very dated The drinks prices are very expensive also Won’t be visiting here again

Both our ground floor and first floor bedrooms have been recently refurbished with the second floor being the only floor which is yet to be refurbished and for this is discounted.

Hadn't been to the hotel for about 8 years what a difference in this time bar area restaurant and rooms have been updated to a lovely standard and the staff are all dressed in there smart uniforms This is not to say we didn't enjoy ourselves 8 years ago it was just nice to go back and get a lovely surprise how much it had been updated As for our stay we had a warm welcome at reception and then with the bar and restaurant staff thay were all nice over our 2 day Stay Only concern would be the prices at the bar we noticed some of the people going out to the nearest bars to drink wasn't like that 8 year ago it was more in line with the bars around the area and was away busy in the hotel Other than this thanks for a lovely time

Lovely hotel and fantastic food. Only negative was being in a room above the main wedding function disco when we weren’t part of their group. Too noisy to sleep…but I guess that’s to be expected when you’re staying at a wedding venue.

VERY small bedroom with stained carpet, apart from that clean enough. The corner shower cabinet only opened a partly. Communal toilets were in need of an upgrade and very smelly. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
