Experience the splendor of the Maine Highlands at this Moosehead Lake retreat, a hand-crafted lakefront cabin with a private swimming dock, two kayaks to take out on the water, and an outdoor firepit and deck with views of the distant mountains and surrounding woodlands! Tucked away in the trees on the Burnt Jacket Peninsula just 25 feet from the lake's edge, this home was constructed by a local craftsman using solid pine logs in the traditional way. The kitchen has a mini-fridge, a full-size stove, and an oven. You'll be amidst 12 acres of woods, trails, and shorelines and hundreds of acres of neighboring backcountry for hiking and snowshoeing. The cabin is also just nine miles south of Lily Bay State Park and 11 miles north of downtown Greenville (which is also reachable by boat). THINGS TO KNOW The jet pack WiFi is not suitable for remote work or streaming. The full kitchen does not have a dishwasher. A dirt road leads to the cabin, so a 4x4 that can handle wear and tear is best. The lake is not accessible by snowmobile. Guests must trailer from the cabin to a public landing or parking area to access the lake or snowmobile trails. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 3 vehicles. Security camera details: Outside with view of driveway Dock details: Docks and kayaks are available June through September, weather and lake conditions permitting. The dock is just for swimming or sitting, and not for mooring a boat. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit. More information can be downloaded from the "Rental Agreement" on the checkout page. Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. We couldn't quite see the sunset at this time of year, but if you hop in the kayak and go about 50 yards, you get a great view! I paddled for a couple of hours up the lake and there was a lot of natural beauty, unlike other more developed lakes. Everything was as mentioned in the listing. It was clean, well stocked with firewood, charcoal, everything but food and beach towels (at least I didn't see any). There are 2 kayaks (one is a tandem) and a paddle board. The master bed is extremely firm so if you have a queen pad, you might want to bring it. Would go back in a heartbeat. ##### Edwin T. The kitchen was perfectly set up. It was close to town without being too far away. We were there for the Fly In and enjoyed watching the seaplanes from the dock. Thank you for the use of the kayaks. We were nursing a leg injury so we did not participate in any hiking. We spent a lot of time at the cabin and on the dock. It was just what our family of three needed! The unit was clean and well stocked. The dirt road was in good condition (Aug 2022) and navigation via directions provided by Vacasa / Owner were perfect. Caught one fish and had quite a few bites casting off the swimmers dock. Fully enjoyed the remote location at the base of Burnt Jacket Mountain. Only 30 min drive to Downtown Greenville. Local hiking trails and sightseeing is easily accessible. Can not wait to go back! ##### Harold G.
