While it's not as close to the campus of the University as we would have liked, it was a short uber ride away. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were all very lovely and helpful.

Lovely hotel with exceptional staff. We were delighted to have breakfast added complimentary which was unexpected and delicious. The only area for improvement was in the room where I would have liked a mirror at the vanity to style hair and put on makeup. Otherwise a nice central hotel for a stay in Glasgow.

Lovely staff, quiet location and good soundproofing. Room was a bit old and a few things could be reviewed by hotel, very old radiator, bath plug doesn’t fit well and king size bed not fitted together well enough so could feel the join down the middle. Otherwise good value for money and bar, staff and food were very good.

Ok, lacking in festive cheer!
A bit a little disorganised. Not enough towels for everyone and the extra bed for our son was overlooked so added in once we arrived. Staff polite and pleasant, Cara at breakfast stood out though as she actually appeared to be enjoying herself, not just working! The room was lovely with a seating area and mezzanine bedroom but a little grubby with lots of stains on the sofas. Also, the a/c panel is super bright and right next to the bed making for a very disturbed nights sleep. The shower was hot/cold/hot/cold. We did report it so hopefully it's fixed for the next guests! Overall, it was a nice break but there was no festive fun or "oomph" about the hotel; nothing to make their guests feel special.

Comfortable, clean, convenient, but more manners.
Some staff were lovely. One gentleman brought a bed with treats for my dog and was very kind. The rooms were clean, and the bar was friendly and the bar staff were very professional. Unfortunately one receptionist was unprofessional and quite unfriendly during both check-in and check-out, and overall quite unpleasant and unhelpful which was quite bizarre. Would recommend for work trips as the beds are very comfortable and the location is convenient. Glasgow is famous for being a friendly city and the rest of the staff were so lovely, but maybe younger staff could do with a little bit of training in manners because I found interactions with one staff member to be inexplicably cold and difficult which was not the end of the world, but was really quite unpleasant and odd.

My first ever stay at the hotel
The hotel put me in a room that the whole floor boards under the carpet made noises. The tv channels did not work, the water floor in the taps was poor and the lamp needed a new bulb. I was extremely disappointed as the room cost £209. The good thing they did refund some of the cost of the room.

Hotel is not properly sound-proofed
Stay here at your peril. Unless you are very hard of hearing there is a good chance you will have a dreadful stay. I was initially booked into room 120, which is in a corridor of ‘junior suite’ rooms directly above reception that, oddly, is only accessible up a flight of stairs. The squeaking of floor boards started in the corridor. And then into into the room. And then I heard the people in the room next door squeaking around their room. And then the people in the room on the other side squeaked around their room. Literally every step. It was unreal. The entire floor of rooms was one big interconnected squeak-fest. I have no idea what is wrong with that floor (old converted building?) but I am shocked that a brand like Malmaison has the nerve to sell any of the rooms in that corridor. The receptionist was pleasant when I asked to change the room (let’s just say she didn’t seem surprised when I mentioned floorboards). Room 452 was in a more modern wing of the hotel and at least had a solid, quiet floor. But then I heard coughs and sneezes from next door and the room was close enough to the lift to hear the announcement every time the lift doors opened. There were other issues: hand basin didn’t clear water quickly;all the hot taps had bizarre signs warning of extremely hot water; no plugs by the bedside to charge phones; tired decor. The staff were pleasant and I don’t enjoy leaving a review like this but people deserve to know how significantly below par this property is.

Good crew, cute hotel, bad room
Hotel crew was very friendly and very kind. Bar and restaurant had a great service, good bartender and a very good cuisine. Room (#104) did not have a real window and it was with no natural light, it was pretty dark. Carpet was not very clean. Room was small and clumsy. Price, for the room was still above £220 per night ... absolutely not worth.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful. That goes a long way. Fire alarm testing ongoing in the afternoon while i needed to make some work calls wasnt great but id rather it was working than not in an emergency! Bathroom could do be a refresh and the water temperature in the shower was variable. I would stay again.
