Out in the middle of nowhere

Posted 10-Jul-2016
It took us almost an hour to get to the hotel from the Stirling train station. While the scenery is unbeatable, the hotel restaurant was overpriced for food that didn't interest us. We ate at the bar restaurant, which is where it seemed everyone else was too. The bed was comfy, which is always a plus. The receptionist at check out was really patient and nice about our American credit card drama we had when we tried to check out. This hotel was fine, was not amazing.

Perfect for exploring the Trossachs

Posted 29-Jun-2016
Pros: Its location and leisure facilities
Cons: They could introduce red squirrel feeders to give guests a better chance of seeing them
Location: You are in the Trossachs, near to Loch Lomond for cruises, near to Loch Katrine for the Sir Walter Scott and not far from Stirling Castle
The hotel has a great location by Loch Ard and the views from the dining room and the patio are a treat

We will definitely return for another break

It was very relaxing, food was wonderful in the Garden Restaurant and Rafters Bistro, we could only eat 2 courses. On Thursday night enjoyed Stuart the accordian player at the Bistro, something different! The pool was also great for a swim and then jacuzzi.

Slightly disappointed customer

Posted 17-Apr-2016 on Hotels
First point of contact was a very disappointing! A young lady who didn't acknowledge we were there, never broke a smile or offered any conversation whatsoever! The cooked breakfast was very disappointing!! The room however was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is in a beautiful setting! Must add evening dinner in the was excellent although it was the exact same menu both nights! We also had a problem opening our room door, wouldn't have to be in a hurry!!!

A great hotel in a wonderful location. Unfortunately I was ill for the duration of the stay but my wife and daughter loved it.

Mixed review for this hotel

Fantastic service by head waiter/restaurant manager in the Rafters Bar and Bistro, however all other servicing staff didn't seem as polite and friendly. The breakfast waiting staff were terrible and didn't understand any requests such as could we have some toast please, we asked 3 times and gave up, however other tables seem to be getting the toast brought out to them.
