The hotel is not 4 star there's four fight of stairs and it's dark the carpet was not clean in the bathroom no paper roll holder and not clean the bedroom have dump very bad all and all

Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Clean and comfortable room with all the essentials required. Though right next to main road was not disturbed by any noise during the night. Good lighting in room and switches conveniently located above headboard. Room - especially en suite bathroom - a little dated and tired and in need of updating. Fan was not very good and TV very small given its distance from bed. The self-service buffet breakfast was basic but fine and the dining room clean and accessible and well laid out. Would have preferred option of a cooked breakfast as advertised.

The proprietor was friendly and the room was acceptable. The breakfast was a great disappointment. A very minimal continental breakfast with burnt croissants.

Good value - Nice location
The manager did an amazing job. Very service minded. The roon was a bit old In a charming way but nice and clean.

Accommodation a bit old fashioned but very comfortable and everything we needed Given that its only £50 a night incliding breakfast, it was brilliant

Arrived early 1:30 pm when check in was 3pm. Could not gain access & no one answered the phone. Went away came back at 3pm and even though there was someone there who could sign us in, they advised that the pub was not open til 4pm and that the 3pm check in was a bit of a mistake. Breakfast was very good. No evening dining facilities were available & there was no one around during the day time should something be required. My expectation was that being an old coaching inn the hospitality would be alot better than it was. We were very disappointed

not the best
when we arrvied we had to walk into the bar to check in and it was just awkward not really the best welcome to the place the guy was rude and just laughing on with the girls didnt give us any information about anything juat got handed the key and some girl showee us to our room very poor ! , the room was very dated with some strange corner bath like something out of a wham video from the 80s bloody horrible, the shower didnt work the shower curtain was black as were all the windows , the bed was comfortable enough but this place really needs updated amd all staff trained on how to greet people

Disappointing stay
Quite happy to leave this hotel after 4 nights stay. Lights kept failing in the room, felt dirty and wasnt cleaned, very dated decor and furniture. Poor atmosphere and breakfast we chose to skip.

4* hotel this is definitely not! Its not even 1*!
On arrival told hotel restaurant was closed. Shown to deluxe 4 poster room that u couldn’t swing a cat in!.. defo not delux. Carpets were thread bare, skirting boards were filthy, pealing paper on walls. Heat in room unbareable! No sleep! Took them 40mins to find keys to let me out in morning. Too hot in restaurant to sit for breakfast so got Takeaway bacon roll & coffee which took another half an hour, coffee cup lid far to big so went everywhere. This is definitely not a 4* hotel and that was definitely not a deluxe room! Very dated and not clean! Hotels.com need to be checking the accommodation before writing there descriptions and selling to the public who takes there word and descriptions as being correct and true! Very very unhappy !

Recently new owners working hard to improve fabric and general condition of hotel. Very welcoming and eager to please - nothing was a problem. We were even given our own traffic cone to reserve our car park space!! Food was good. Bar clientele were very friendly and helpful with information on the area. The location was ideal for attending a Dry Stone Walling Association event.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay at the Cross Keys Hotel. Everyone was very friendly, breakfast was good and the room was comfortable. We would return for another stay.

Not socially acceptable I know but this place had the best facilities for smokers - located outside but undercover. Staff friendly. Room was great, roomy and the bathroom was incredible.

One of the worst places I’ve stayed at... Bed uncomfortable so didn’t get any sleep. Shower curtain grubby and mouldy - it just needed washing!!! Room hot and fan provided very noisy. Jug was disgusting- scared of what bugs I might pick up from using it! Breakfast provided was ok. Had to walk through the pub with your bags which wasn’t pleasant- pub smelled like wet dog- yuk!

I was only expecting a room as we were only there for 1 night but we had the 2 bedroom cottage which was so spacious! Would of been ideal if we were there longer and we even had a table reserved for us for breakfast.
