Good hotel for a one or two night stay.

We had a room with a king sized bed. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. My only complaint is that the bathroom was extremely small and there was no sink inside the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was very low as well We ordered the breakfast in our package and I absolutely wish I hadn't. The breakfast food in the restaurant was horrible. Took one bite of bacon and couldn't chew it so I spit it out… The eggs tasted greasy like they were made on a griddle that wasn't cleaned and the potatoes were tasteless and rubbery. I tasted everything but didn't eat anything. Overall, it was a good experience for a night or two. The staff was friendly and professional and, most importantly, the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and shower would prevent me from staying there longer.

A good hotel!

Cons: A variety of soft and a bit more firm pillows for those of us who like the support.
The staff was very pleasant. The rooms were clean as was the rest of the hotel that I saw. The beds were very comfy, however the pillows were too soft for my liking. There was ample parking and the location was good, several points of interest and restaurants were within walking distance. The hotel is located next to a freeway so they give out complimentary ear plugs and/or a white noise machine which was ingenious!!! All in all it was a great place to stay!!

Disappointed based on the price

Location: The location was good with lots of breweries within walking distance. You are certainly paying for location and not room comfort
The temperature controls didn't work. They did get them fixed the next day. It was one of the more expensive hotels downtown but had minimal space in the bathroom.

Easy short walk to downtown - we were there for a concert at the Van andel and it was perfect for this ... however our room had ONE double bed ONE! good thing I like My husband ;-)

Great Location For Downtown Attractions

This is an excellent location to explore downtown Grand Rapids. It is right next door to the Grand Rapids Public Museum, across the street from the Gerald R. Ford Museum, and an easy walk to the DeVos Performance Hall, Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids Art Museum, BOB and lots of restaurants, breweries, pubs and shops. The fantastic Downtown Market is only about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Free on-site parking is a huge plus, considering what most of the nearby hotel parking garages charge. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I don't usually make note of the desk chairs in hotels, but those in the Holiday Inn were outstanding! Breakfast is not complimentary, but a very good one can be had at the hotel's Pearl Street Grill. The only caution I would give is that the hotel is RIGHT next to the US-131 freeway which can be very noisy. My wife and I didn't have any problems with this, but light sleepers should probably request a room on the side farthest from the freeway.

Excellent location for ArtPrize visit Only downside was the appearance and cleanliness of the cafe. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Service was scarce.

holiday in has extras to make your stay comfortable. good location for art prize easy walking distance to restaurants etc.
