Really lovely stay. Location close to the beach means you hear the waves as you go to sleep! We stayed for 10 days which was probably too long ... although the food is excellent, a buffet gets tired after a week. The spa is lovely and the treatments reasonably priced. Staff are all very nice, and extras in the bar/restaurant are also inexpensive. Would certainly visit again.

Holidays are what you make them
I love this hotel I have ben many times before and I am going back again in October. There are a few things they need to improve upon but nothing that would spoil your stay.

Lovely relaxing hotel
Excellent facilities, especially the spa. Beautiful gardens and close to the beach. Hotel staff were unfailingly polite and helpful - the one exception being a very brusque female receptionist. Great transport links and pleasant evening entertainment. Food was a delight.

A great holiday in a fine hotel
I took my wife and two grown up children for a week to this hotel.From the moment we walked into the foyer to the moment we ,regretfully, left none of us could fault the experience.The rooms were well appointed and kept spotless by charming staff.The food was extremely good with a wide choice at every meal.Alcohol was plentiful but if you are are "wine buff" they only serve basic,quite drinkable,wines and local spirits which were quite adequate within the all inclusive.The cocktails were excellent though. The spa was outstanding,well equipped and spotless as was the gym. The staff were helpful and friendly at all times.Although the hotel was full there was always room in the lounges,by the pool or in any of the facilities. The best holiday hotel we have ever stayed in and we shall return.

Wonderful Stay!
The service was excellent. Servers constantly checked on us. The buffet was a high variety of quality food. There is also a cook standing by in addition to the buffet, making something special for the evening. My favorite nightly special was the pasta tossed in a wheel of cheese. The room was very clean. We got a sea view room and it was a gorgeous view of the ocean. We we’re at the end, so could barely see the pool. This vacation was a very pleasant one. We didn’t have to do anything for ourselves! Perfect getaway. I want to specifically note the bartender at the pool bar, Fernando (hope I spelled his name correctly). He is so kind, even when there is a line of customers and it might get stressful. He also takes the time to make drinks with the proper ingredients and garnishes. I could tell I wasn’t the only one that was happy to have him as a bartender. He makes the pool bar a more pleasant experience!

Great, clean hotel with a beautiful garden
This hotel was a total surprise. We were not expecting much but it turned out to be amazing. The rooms were big and comfy, very clean with good beds and the food was really great as well. The hotel also has a beautiful garden and the staff is really nice and helpful. The spa can be used free of charge. Everything is very well organized. All in all we were extremely happy with the stay and didn't want to leave.

Fabulous hotel
This hotel is one of the best we have stayed in. Beautiful surroundings with excellent facilities. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. We were fortunate to be allocated a room on 7th floor with lateral sea view. Room spacious and modern. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Food and all inclusive drink package great. First time we had waiter service at all inclusive. Great spa free of charge. Highly recommended to anyone going to San Agustin. Can't wait to return.

Lovely Hotel right on the Beach
When we arrived we were told the hotel was overbooked (here we go I thought) but..we were told we could still have the room we booked or get a free upgrade and we could go and look at both rooms before we decided. We went and looked at the original room first, a high floor room, this one being on the 6th floor (the hotel has 7 floors). The room seemed very nice, the balcony looked over the pool, gardens and down to the beach. We would have been quite happy with this room. We then went to look at the upgrade offered, which was a beachfront bungalow. The bungalow had a large open plan bedroom/living room and the largest shower room I have ever seen. There was a private terrace which over looked the beach and to top it all there was a Jacuzzi. We had planned on exploring the island but just couldn't tear ourselves away from the terrace and Jacuzzi. We had a lovely relaxing peaceful holiday.

Very good hotel
This is a well run and well maintained hotel. Room nicely fitted. Facilities top class. Food really good, with real ground bean coffee at breakfast, and, a first for me in gran Canaria , also available during dinner. For tea drinkers, proper teapots and milk jugs with scalding water to make a proper brew. Thick back bacon as well as the usual thin streaky you normally get in spanish buffet. Beverages good value, only €2 for a glass of house wine, free to all inclusives. Sun beds allocated so no towel wars. Lovely spa, two really super rooftop solarium and jacuzzi areas, one fkr those who forgot to bring swimwear. Entertainment a bit tepid, some of the acts are chancers, the Drifters tribute duo were so bad it was a form of entertainment in itself. Minor niggle for twin bed users, fixed locker wall lampshades make it difficult to move beds apart any distance. Safe is charged for, not good, but bottled water provided daily to room. WiFi free but bit rates are abysmal. Hotel seems to have no late checkout policy, not even for a charge, a pity as with so many late arrivals it should be possible to get a few hours extra at departure, even 2-3 hours makes a huge difference on you last day. Location is perfect for city, airport and playa buses. Playa is a healthy 30-40 minute scenic walk.

A lovely hotel in a very nice location right on the waterfront. The pool area and gardens were particularly nice. However, they operated a strange system of find a sun bed and tag it as yours for the complete holiday. Finding a spare bed at the beginning was difficult and not necessarily in an area that suited. For example our beds were constantly in the shade and next to a rubbish bin while other beds in the sun lay empty most of the day. It was most disappointing that in this day and age a 4 star hotel did not provide tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The dinner buffet was generally good but with so many different food islands it also became difficult to coordinate a complete plate of food. It would not have been too difficult to use the different islands to create themed food areas. Room cleaning was extremely hit and miss, some days excellent, some days very poor. We were all inclusive and could very much have eaten and drank all day but pathetically were charged for having a basic ice-cream cone in the afternoon. (Solution; order a more expensive ice-cream dessert from the snack menu which was free!!!)

Excellent hotel for a relaxing holiday.
If you want an easy, relaxing holiday then the Hotel Costa Canaria is a great choice. The food, bedrooms and spa are all excellent. Its a very quiet hotel in a quiet resort, the average age is 60, but this suited us as I wanted a serene enviroment. We rented a car but there is a bus stop outside and plenty of taxis available. We'll definitely be back.

Comfortable clean relaxed atmosphere
The hotel staff are very professional and contentious and work extremely hard. Nothing was too much trouble. Beds were extremely comfortable. This hotel is well placed situated from the main resorts, bus stops are located just in front of the hotel and are very frequent and good value.

We wanted a 10 day break with great facilities good weather and good food, the Spa was fantastic. This hotel is in a quiet area but close enough to busy areas if needed. For a real chill out break it was perfect.

nice stay, with entertainment during day (without being pushed) ENtertainment nice in evening, just sad, they close at midnight... BUT The map in Hotels.com shows the Hotel far (500mtr) away from beach. Incorrect, just across the beach-walk, so nicely accessible

The hotel is excellent! The environment, the beach by the hotel, the pool, spa and bar. But the same does not apply to room and the buffet.The room has two beds together like a double bed, this is bad. As for the buffet, the food is really bad qualities. The taste was not great. Except breakfast that was fabulous.

A good introduction to "All inclusive"
On arrival we found that the sea view room we had booked was not available so to compensate for this we were given a garden room and uprated from half board to all inclusive at no extra cost. This more than compensated for the loss of the sea view. The hotel is located on the sea front and is set in large gardens. The location is quiet and access to the paved path that enables walkers to explore this fine location is an easy one. If you have opted for half board there are various cafes and bars that are within a short walking distance.

Stayed with my grown-up daughter for one week and had a fabulous relaxing time. The new spa with its massage beds, steam room, sauna and various Jacuzzis was amazing. Outdoor pools were a bit chilly to get into but ok once you are in! Food was good, lots of choice. Best meal was the steak brought out on a hot stone available at lunchtime by the pool. The staff were wonderful, helpful, cheerful and obliging - couldn't fault the service or cleanliness. Tended to be older couples which was probably why the evening music was more "strictly" however there was some flamenco dancing one night which was very colourful and entertaining. The hotel is on the beach so no need for transport. It's black sand but it is possible to walk to the golden dunes. There are a couple of good restaurants handy (El Capitan and Balcon de something) if you fancy a change of scene in the evening. There is a bus-stop where you can get a bus to Maspalomas or the airport and there is a water park not too far away too. The only thing which was a tad annoying was that there weren't any ice machines or ice buckets. We had to ask for ice at the bar and carry it in a large glass. If we forgot to do this on the way back to the room it was quite a trek back to the bar (we were on 5th floor) Seemed a bit strange to not have ice machines when there is a mini fridge in the room to put drinks in. Would I go back? Yes definitely!

The Gran Canaria Hotel is outstanding in every way. First class facilities, the room was amazing, I had the most brilliant views (overlooking pool and a full sea view). All the staff were very very helpful, there was a slight hiccup when I checked in about the duration of my holiday but it was all sorted and dealt with in a quick, professional way by the lovely reception staff. We were on half board, which was perfect for us. The food was great, such an amazing choice both in the morning and evening and it was delicious. Again the waiters/waitresses were efficient and very friendly.

It was OK. When we arrived our reservation was wrong which the hotel didn't seem bothered about. Fortunately Hotels.com sorted it out (top marks to them). The swimming pool was absolutely freezing and the shower in our room ranged from red hot to stone cold without adjusting the controls. However, generally the hotel is OK but that's all. Nothing more - nothing less.

Good hotel but unacceptable extra charges.
Pro's: Good sized room and bathroom. Excellent sea view. Clean. Good location. Nice staff. Con's: Rather "faded". In need of a redecoration upgrade. The main complaint is the cheek of charging 4 euros a day to use the in-room safe and the complete lack of any free Wi-Fi facility anywhere in the hotel. With the popularity of smartphones etc. most hotels nowadays are realising the need to provide free internet access. Making high charges for Wi-Fi is the modern equivalent of outrageous hotel telephone costs.

Perfect hotel for a relaxing holiday
Stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of Sept 2013 and had a very enjoyable time. Hotel has an ideal location with its gardens and grounds extending down to the sea front. Allocated to a room on the top floor with a sea view which was lovely to watch the world go by. Weather was excellent during our stay and the hotel and its grounds provided plenty of choices of seating areas dependent upon whether you wanted to soak up some rays or cool off in the shade. All public areas including pool and gardens excellently maintained. Would recommend this to persons wanting a chill out holiday as there is no irritating noise to be had late at night - most nightlife in the area is over by about 11.30 pm.

The hotel was lovely and food excellent
The only criticism we have is that as we were on a half board basis (not all inclusive as many were) we were not able to purchase drinks etc., and make payment for these at the bar. We had to use a room tab and pay at the end of our stay. This did spoil our stay as we then tended to go out to other premesis for our lunch and drinks where we could pay as we went along to avoid a large bill at the end of the week. This was the only problem and we found the facilities excellent as I am unable to walk long distances and the grounds and pools in the hotel were beautiful and location of the beach wonderful for me, being so close to the hotel. St Augustin is a very nice resort and we were able to explore other resorts nearby when we chose to. We have not been abroad for our holiday since 2007 (prior to recession we went every year) and this holiday was a wonderful, relaxing break for us. Also we would like to say that Expedia were excellent in helping us once we had made our booking and after sales full marks for all their kind assistance liasing with monarch when I booked the wrong seats! Food is very good with plenty of choice at all meal times. Staff can sometimes be a little inattentive in the bar areas as they are very busy and with the AI options and cashless systems they are less likely to get tips. A good sunbed reservation system.

Pleasant enjoyable stay in Gran Canaria
This is a fine hotel in one of the best spots in Gran Canaria. Rooms good, catering good, lovely gardens running down to the beach and two nice outdoor pools. Staff service friendly and excellent.There is plenty to do in the Hotel who have an super Activity Team working hard on guests behalf. Every evening their is some enjoyable professional entertainment and often dancing for guests. There is a regular bus service by the hotel which can take you quickly to other resorts in the south of the Island at rock bottom fares. Maspalomas and Playa Ingles can be reached on foot via the seaside esplanade in 30 to 40 minutes. In March the hotel is occupied by guests aged 50 and over.This is no place for Children or the under 40's at this time of the year. It is a lovely safe haven for those of advancing years and is highly recommended. The only downside was the low temperature of the swimming pools which tended to attract only the hardiest of swimmers.

When I looked at the advert. on the net, it looked as all the rooms had seaview, but our room had only a view to the backyard with lots of noise, We couldn't upgrade, for there was no room with seaview available, but they found us a room in a little block (Ithink they called it) in the garden. So we were satisfied with that glims of the sea. But the avert was not telling the whole thruth.

Lovely hotel, shame about the smokers.
Excellent hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As non-smokers however we had some irritations. The hotel itself of course was no smoking inside and a small notice reminded guests that this included the rooms balcony. Judging by the occasional smell some guests ignored this. Also occasionally it seemed that the smell of smoke came in through the air conditioning into the room. A bigger problem for us however was the outside smoking. It seemed that lots of the guests smoke on their sunbeds which was an irritation. Even worse we were unable to use terrace bar in the evening due to the heavy smoke all over the outside area. We really like the system where you can put a tag on sun loungers and they are yours for your stay. No need to get up early and put towels out etc.

A great location and hotel
An excellent all inclusive or half board option for anyone that wants to visit Gran Canaria. Located just outside all the main tourist areas made this perfect for us as wanted a quieter option. Good quality buffet style meals every morning and night. Most rooms Overlooked sea and beach just meters from end of garden/swimming pool area. Would happily visit again.
