Suite had poorly controlled heating resulting in cold lower level and overly warm loft where bed was. Heavy traffic outside window all night. Very overpriced for the room. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

dejligt skihotel også om sommeren

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: stedet, naturen og de venlige personaler
Cons: nej

Quiet clean and comfortable

Posted 22-Aug-2016
I've stayed here twice now with friends for yoho hiking weekends. The staff is always friendly and the hotel is ideally located. The beds and bedding are super comfortable and the rooms are clean, if a little small. The lime green/ neon yellow bathtub's are hilariously entertaining. Perfect location and beautiful views. My only suggestion would be to ensure your hotel has a fridge before you get there and that the hotel should provide a toaster and microwave for those of us that bring food. The continental breakfast is sparse.

Good outside view but room is too small

Room is too small. I have a loft, which only have 1 bath room and no enough room.

Located on Highway 1 the motel is well placed for the Icefield Parkway and Lake Louise.

The location was nice and the staff were great. On the other hand, the rooms are really small and no a/c. Walls are paper thin so you can hear the person next door sneeze, flush in the toilet, etc. Good news is no one there that night really made any noise so we did manage to sleep. Overall the hotel is just ok.

Great location

Posted 21-Aug-2016
It's about 15-20 from Lake Louise, which is where we wanted to go. But it ended up being in a great location to see the ice fields in Jasper and heading to Banff

Clean hotel close to Lake Ohara,Emerald hikes

Posted 20-Aug-2016
Clean rooms with friendly staff close to hiking trails. Rooms facing the mountains were also on the highway side. Nice view but hot at night and opening window made highway vehicle noise impossible to sleep

Lodge is very dated. Our bathroom still had a green sink and tub from the 60's with a cheap tub surround. The toilet was newer but still about 20 years old. Every time you flushed the toilet it made a sound like a screeching animal. Bathroom floor had newer floor tiles but the grout was stained. Mirror silver was peeling off the back. Sink taps dripped. The rest of the room had maple hard wood floors that creaked with every step. We were fortunately on the 2nd floor. I feel sorry for the people on the main floor. It was very noisy from the road traffic and the trains. I was very surprised at how many trains there were. Room was very not, no air conditioning, just a fan. No closet, and no shelf for towels in the bathroom, see photo. And then there was the included breakfast, wow, this was pathetic. Poorly made home made muffins, store bought danishes, overripe bananas and the only good thing, yogurt. And don't forget you have to bus your own table since there were no staff. They charge too much a night for this hotel. We booked this because we couldn't get accommodations in Banff or Lake Louise. Travelling is always an experience and I do not want to experience this Lodge again. The owner puts the minimal amount of upkeep in this place. It's not as bad as what you see on Hotel Hell but if the owner really cared he/she would put some money into this place.

Close to the Lakes and Icefields Parkway

Posted 17-Aug-2016
While located in Yoho National Park in British Columbia, The Great Divide Lodge is a ten-minute drive from Alberta (where the park boundary lies between Banff and Yoho). Staying here made it possible for us to get to Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Lake O'Hara and Emerald Lake within minutes. Wapta Lake is right across the Trans-Canada Highway visible from the lodge. Icefields Parkway is so close that I kept questioning myself why I bothered to stay in Banff townsite last time I visited the Canadian Rockies (because getting to Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and Icefields Parkway is a 45-min drive from the town of Banff). The lodge has a restaurant and it also offers basic complimentary breakfast. Given its proximity to all the major lakes, Icefields Parkway and two other national parks (Banff and Kootenay), The Great Divide Lodge is perhaps your best bet for a cheaper yet spectacular stay in the Canadian Rockies. The rooms are clean and the staff is great. We would leave this 5-dollar tip for our room cleaning lady and everytime we would return to our room, we would find that our room had been cleaned but the money was untouched. As far as highway and train tracks noises are concerned, opt for a "forest view" room. We stayed in one and it was very quiet and peaceful. Definitely staying here again!
