Comfortable lodge up in the mountains

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a summer road trip. Upon first arrival it was gorgeous from the outside and had a nice lobby, a bit of a drive from town but worth it to be out of the hustle and bustle. Had to walk to the lodge next door for reception but she was very friendly, accommodating and answered all of our questions. When we got to the room it seemed super clean, other than there was laundry laying on the floor in the closet bunched up that we did not know if it was dirty or clean. It was very hot outside our entire trip so it was disappointing not to have any air conditioning, though they do give you a fan. No plushy robes in the rooms like advertised, though we didn't ask reception for them and the hot tub that is advertised as well was way to hot to go into, I couldn't even stick my foot in. Also a bigger television in the room would've been nice, the one provided is pretty small. I would say it's overpriced for the room you get but overall a super nice lodge, very quite and clean feeling with a very good breakfast. I would like to experience this lodge in winter.

Glorious gem at the foot of the slopes

A beautiful hotel at the foot of the slopes, 5 minutes from the lifts, with ski back routes. Great food next door. Rooms are lovely and the place is so pretty with views everywhere. There's even a resident grizzly bear.

Not Great

One employee was split between this hotel and the sister hotel next door. He was wonderful but one person running two hotels is not efficient, obviously. We were taken to a room that was not made up and therefore moved to a different room that had been serviced. Our room hadn't been dusted in what seemed like weeks. Not sure the last time someone stayed in that room. The room backed onto the back of the hotel where the restaurant kitchen also backed onto; the kitchen staff walks out of the kitchen and the door slams every time. It was obnoxiously annoying. It was a very expensive stay for a not very valuable experience.

It was quiet and cozy. The rooms were nice and big and the decor was nice too, definitely not outdated. We were in golden for a wedding and by far had the nicest hotel out of everyone. It was very relaxing. I loved that it wasn't big either. It was very easy to feel at home. The food at corks and the Winston was fantastic as well!

Location was very good

Cons: Working TV, and cleaning of the room

Was walked up to our room, no one offered to help take our luggage up the stairs. Two pillows on a chair, with NO pillowcases. Room was dusty, top of refrigerator was disgusting. Old milk in our refrigerator. Went to turn on our TV, no signal or video. Called down to front desk, were told someone would come up and check it out. Two hours later, when we went for dinner, asked again about the TV. Someone came up, were told they had contacted the cable company a week ago, and it has not worked. Would you charge the same rate for a room, if you knew the TV was out? At least tell us the truth. Went to take a shower, no glasses in bathroom or soap for a shower, only shampoo. The food, and breakfast that was included was very good. Hard to find anyone to talk to when you have issues. Location very pretty. We booked this room because it was recommended through Expedia, I would never had paid this rate if I would of known the conditions of the room.

Dear Mr Hannam, There are a number of issues you have raised which simply are incorrect and for the sake of our other potential guests need to be clarified. You were checked in to the Lodge by Heather our receptionist who at the time asked if you required assistance with luggage, something we offer to ALL our guests. I'm sure you are aware of the extreme dry dusty conditions we are faced with and are causing many wildfires throughout BC. The dusty problem is hampered by the loose metal driveway and carpark which surrounds 50% of the lodge. we dust every room and more every day and I'm sorry that you found dust upon check in. It is a problem we are having and are doing our best to control it. We have had problems with the TV off and on over the week with intermittent reception. We are awaiting technicians to fix the problem which is beyond our control. I apologize that you had no TV reception during your stay. The Resident Manager was the person who came to look at your TV who also mentioned that nothing was said about pillows without pillow cases at the time and noted that all pillows had slips. He also checked your soap dispenser and found it contained soap! The tray above your fridge has on it, two mugs, two wine glasses and two other glasses for your personal use. At reception on the counter, there are instructions to you the guest on how to contact staff should you require assistance for any matter with a buzzer that links you directly to either the Manager or reception, 24hrs. I am very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. On another note, we would appreciate it if you could post the room key back to us, these sometimes are inadvertently taken and happens frequently. Sincerely, Dave Woodman.

Adequate for an overnight stat

Hotel looked tired. In need of a thorough clean and refurbishment.Probably far more cosy for a winter stay than a summer visit. Disappointed to find restaurant closed although the adjoining pub was adequate.

Double charged credit card

Cons: Communication with the clients to resolve problems
The hotel was excellent but when I revised my credit card statement, I notice that it was charge double and we stayed just one night. I left several messages and nobody has contacted me. I left a message with Expedia and they told me the hotel does not want to credit back the extra night they charged me by their mistake. Too bad!!! We had come back with such a beautiful impression of Canada and the Canadians

Cute, quiet hotel

We were greeted and shown to our room. Really cute, great food at the restaurant, and a collection of board games in the lobby. Views were stunning from our room! I highly recommend it.

DISAPPOINTING

WE HAD STAYED HERE BEFORE AND FOUND IT GOOD. THIS TIME, IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE ROOM HAD NOT BEEN VACUUMED AND THE GARBAGE AND RECYCLING BINS IN THE ROOM HAD NOT BEEN EMPTIED. IT MADE YOU WONDER WHAT ELSE WAS NOT DONE. HOW THIS CAN BE MISSED IS BEYOND ME. BREAKFAST WAS GOOD. LOCATION ON THE HILL WAS ALSO GOOD. STAFF WERE NEW AND NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE AREA - WHERE TO EAT, ETC.

Not bad

Hotel was a bit of a drive from town, but it was a nice drive. The hotel staff was very pleasant and we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. We also enjoyed the nice wine glasses, (a lot of motels have no wine glasses or stubby ones). And the tea in the morning was lovely. The rooms were spacious, but okay and I thought it was a bit over priced.
