Boutique lodge in a mountain setting

Posted 28-Aug-2015
We had a long drive so were the last guests to check in. Unfortunately we missed the owner at arrival. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Great shower. The lodge has many stairs and no elevator which makes it tricky for carrying luggage. I would recommend only for those capable of managing stairs. The restaurant downstairs is fantastic. Best pasta ever! Worth the drive from Golden.

Spoiling Experience

Posted 22-Aug-2015
Cons: Breakfast could be better by having fresh fruit instead of canned syrupy fruit. And granola instead of usual hotel cereals.
We so enjoyed our time at Copper Horse Lodge from friendly greeting to fond farewell. Lovely accommodations with roomful of comfort. Enjoyed the aromatic toiletries and luxurious bedding. We stayed here to have time in Bamff country and enjoyed the ride (on a trike) to and from the park with fantastic views both ways.

Things you should know....

Posted 21-Aug-2015
Pros: Rooms were clean, nicely appointed
Cons: Customers need to be made aware of no elevator and lack of food services in summer during the week.
A lovely spot up on the mountain of Kicking Horse Resort, but you need to know that this entire resort area 14 kms out of Golden one way, has no food service in the evening during the week. We arrived at 7:00 and were told that the restuarant wasn't open and that no hotel, pub or general store was open or serving food. Our only option was a 30 km round trip back to Golden. After a long day of driving, that left us very disappointed. The area is basically abandoned in summertime, at least during the week. The manager of the hotel, although friendly, finally, upon our request, reluctantly served us some toast and tea. There is also no elevator so luggage has to be hauled by yourselves up a long fIght of stairs to the second floor. Thankfully we were travelling with carry on size luggage, but if you have a larger suitcase, you are going to be doing some serious hauling. The rooms themselves were very clean and comfortable and nicely appointed.

Pros: Atmosphere and location
Good welcome! Lots of parking. Great breakfast included. Rooms large and comfortable. Can be a little noisy if other guests make loud noise.

Dear guest, We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and we thank you for your positive feedback. Our guests are usually always quiet, and extremely respectful of their noise level; we sincerely apologize for this rare incident, and hope you'll find your next stay with us even better than your first. We can gladly book an inroom massage for the next visit, which we hope you'll follow with dinner at our Corks restaurant.

Last Minute Unplanned One Night Stay

Posted 20-Jul-2015
Pros: Room was clean and large. Bathroom, especially the shower was awesome. Breakfast was included. Restaurant inside the lodge. Other places to eat near.
Cons: Breakfast was simple but inclusive. I would pay a bit more for the room to have a slightly more selective breakfast.
Location: This location offers many activities during the winter but also during summer including excellent mountain biking and hiking.
My wife and I were in Banff area and didn't have a hotel booked for the night. Since it rained the day before and we didn't get good pictures we wanted to stay another day. We came across Copper Horse Lodge with a reasonable rate for the night and booked it right away. On the way to and from the Copper Horse Lodge we stopped at Emerald Lake. It was spectacular. I even pulled myself together and jumped in the lake for a quick swim. We were not familiar with Golden so we didn't realize the lodge was way up on the mountain but that did not matter since it is only a few minutes up the road. Felix was very friendly, showed us the room and the various amenities. Unfortunately, it was only a one night stay for us. We definitely recommend this lodge.

Good Morning Mick, We were so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at Copper Horse Lodge, and really enjoyed the surrounding area. We hope that you'll be returning to stay with us soon, as there are countless activities and picturesque views you'll love. Being at the base of the highest restaurant in Canada, you could imagine the panoramic views, as well as the grizzly refugee only steps away. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

Nice lodge, little far from the city.

Posted 03-Jul-2015
Pros: Comfortable rooms and shower. Great hospitality.
Cons: Breakfast, cleanliness.
Location: It is little too far from the city and there is nothing to do on a weekdays around the hotel. Everything closes early.
Room smelled and looked clean. However there was some dust on the drawers. Clean sheets and towels, comfortable bed, huge bathroom. One of two night-robes smelled bad. There is an outdoor hot tub and a big tv in the room. Breakfast was good with nice salami and ham, fruits, with choice of 3 types of breads (everything fresh and delicious) and etc., but was served in very small portions. We felt like we did not want to ask about it. But overall it was a great stay!

Wonderful lodge up on the mountain

Posted 02-Jul-2015
There wasn't one negative thing to say about this place. We just stayef one night, and for the price, it was just great. Felix, the owner, showed us to our room and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast in the morning. Quiet with very comfortable beds, and fresh mountain air with spectacular views.

Excellent Stay

Posted 26-Jun-2015
My husband and I enjoyed our 3 days in Golden staying at the Copper Horse Lodge. The Owner, Felix Belczyk, greeted us upon check-in and was a very engaging host during our stay. The room was immaculate, the toiletries were a welcome upgrade compared to other hotels of the same quality, and the included breakfast was satisfactory. The hotel's setting was extremely peaceful. We would definitely recommend the Copper Horse Lodge and will likely return in the near future.
