Quite and clean hotel

Posted 17-Apr-2017
Pros: Nice quaint location
Cons: Staff though polite can be more proactive instead of just giving directions on how things can be done.
The hotel is nice and clean. Supposedly dog friendly, which means a corner room on the first floor. I imagined it to be a room closer to the lawn/ garden on the ground floor esp. since you pay an extra £50 for brining your pet in. Staff were polite but i think overworked as the same reception girl was working late and in early morning next day. Spa facilities are ok as well.

Needs lick of paint but everything else good

Posted 16-Apr-2017
Enjoyable stay. Great swimming pool with good jacuzzi and sauna. Rooms were good. Mix up with rooms was sorted out. Good breakfast. Restaurant food was ok. Place could do with lick of paint but I'm sure with the recent takeover by Hilton that will happen.

A lovely stay in Cheltenham

A lovely hotel with exceptional staff. Very comfortable rooms, decorated to an impeccable standard. Breakfast was tasty and we ate whilst overlooking the beautiful grounds. Excellent value. We will be back!

Nice hotel in a nice setting

Good promote to all Cotswolds villages. Friendly staff. Although they did specifically ask if we wanted a morning newspaper. It never turned up at our door. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Ok if you just want a bed for the night

Posted 20-Feb-2017
Arrived and was greeted well at reception, got to our room and was a really nice big room but found a clump of ladies hair on the floor.rang to book a table for evening meal at the restaurant with our 1 year old daughter and on arrival was met by some very miserable restaurant staff. We were taken to a table asked for a high chair and this became an inconvenience for them as they had to shimmy a table a little bit to "fit" the high in the restaurant was empty! The high chair was bought over it was filthy and she was going to leave it like that for us, it was not a commercial use high it is one you would have a home. By this I mean not an easy wipe down and use again chair. We asked for it to be cleaned and they used a dry cloth and still had a face like a smacked bum! So at this point I looked at my partner and said let's go the atmosphere was ruined the staff were awkward and depressing. My partner waited outside on the hall way as I went to get the car keys and the restaurant staff thought no one was around and decided to talk about us not knowing my fiancé was listening to all and the one lad had a quick look round and his face dropped! Duty manager was soon to sort this as we were certainly not happy. Was offered a small token gesture but at this time of day and only staying for the one night was pretty worthless. Following morning went for breakfast and was given the same scrubby dirty high chair! And still the restaurant staff had a depressed and scared look.

Decent facilities but pre-book for dinner

Posted 06-Feb-2017
Ours was a short one-night stay. The good: Nice looking exterior and grounds, decent clean room, good gym-like leisure facilities (not fitness centre box-ticker) despite small pool. The bad: was in refurbishment, internet in our room was poor, we decided to eat in but at 8pm were not able to get a table (despite there being a few free), ate at the bar with a limited menu which took a while to come (basically pre-book dinner to avoid disappointment). Breakfast was pretty basic (small selection of cereals) but fine.

Handy for centre of Cheltenham

Posted 23-Jan-2017
Pros: Price The gym breakfast
Cons: A bit more focus on the customers' enjoyment of their stay. ie don't wake guests up early on a Sunday morning with thoughtless housekeeping activities
Location: Good location close to Cheltenham (£8.50 taxi to town) Try the Daffodil Resaturant - great food, service and ambience
January 2017- This hotel is undergoing a refurbishment and reminded us of Fawlty Towers! We booked for our anniversary - a special treat as the children were with grandparents. There was no mention of the refurb on any of the bookings websites, maybe we should have guessed by the low price available! On the positive side, our room had been refurbished and was great for the price, although a 10 minute walk from Reception down a very long and very cold corridoor. Breakfast was great and there was a lovely lady who looked after us each morning. The gym was fantastic, although unmanned. The spa facilities were good though disappointing not to have more chairs or sunloungers. On the negative side, dinner in the main restaurant was bizzare! There was only a limited menu due to the refurb, but several things we tried to order were not available. The restaurant was brightly lit with no music, and much to our horror was freezing cold! We sat on a wobbly table near the entrance, feeling a bit like we were sitting in the corridoor, and giggled at the number of people who left the restaurant only to return with jumpers and cardis! I wore 2 cardis and had one over my knees to keep warm. Not the romantic anniversary dinner we had envisaged! Also, on Sunday morning we were woken by incredibly loud activity from housekeeping at 8.15am which on a rare weekend away from the children did not go down well! Large laundry trolleys were being pushed over ridged metal walkways making a huge racke

Spacious hotel

This is at present being renovated but this does not deter from the accommodation offered . Very glamorous and friendly staff.
