Mis represented advertising

Posted 19-Jan-2016
I was attending a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, and could have travelled in the morning, but to allow my self some relaxation time, I specially booked this hotel for the Tue night because of the swimming pool and spa facilities. I was greatly disappointed on arrival to find that these were closed for renovation. Nowhere on the hotel website or expedia was this mentioned. The staff just said it would be open next week--not much use for me

The hotel was very clean, staff very polite.

Pros: Explained above.
Cons: The cooked breakfast, I like to have my bacon and tomatoes cooked more.
Location: Unfortunately we only stayed there due to a party on the Sunday, so did not get chance to get out and about. But it is very handy to visit relatives.
On booking into the hotel, we found that staff were very polite, explained to where we had to go to our room. We were advised to book into the restaurant, for that evening, to which we did. The meal was pleasant, the service and staff very helpful. We booked into this hotel, due to an Aunt having a party there on the Sunday, as we did not want to travel too far. We would recommend this hotel to others, we would also book to stay there again, probable in the near future. The rooms were very clean, the bed very comfortable.

decent hotel

Good hotel close to town but in a nice position and grounds . Room fine and very large comfortable bed . Lovely friendly reception staff particularly the young Latvian lady . Food and drinks ok but breakfast is overpriced for what it is . Overall a good hotel we would recommend

Nice hotel, great staff, decor bit outdated...

Posted 10-Nov-2015
Pros: The staff, the spa facilities, the bar and the view at breakfast.
Cons: Get rid of the woman giving lessons in the pool. Could update the rooms especially the bathrooms. Get some proper veggie sausages!
Location: Lovely secluded area just outside Cheltenham. Golf course right next door. Half an hour walk into town where there are some nice bars and restaurants.
Had a great 4 night stay here. The staff were very friendly, even the cleaning staff, always saying hello and were very helpful. The spa facilities were brilliant. A few little niggles were: 1. Decor in our room was quite old fashioned as well as the bathroom, so if modern is what you're looking for maybe this isn't the place for you. 2. We went in the pool each of the 4 days and on all but one a woman was giving swimming lessons to various people. This was something that she was obviously hired to do, not just a member giving free lessons and her voice was horrible and shrieky. Not very relaxing if I'm honest. 3. I asked for veggie sausages at breakfast and they brought out 2 charcoaled sausages which had literal vegetables in (broccoli carrots etc) which I hate. In this day and age I would have expected proper Quorn sausages. Overall we had a great stay here, got epically fat at breakfast, got steamed to death in the steam room because we didn't want to get out and had some nice drinks at their bar. I would recommend!

not a 4 star hotel!

Posted 09-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Staff at the check-in wasn't welcoming. This is the only hotel to serve the starter at the same time than the dish. Also my steak (originally rare ) arrived cold and was re heated in micro-wave. Not acceptable. Pealing room, and overall cold ambiance. Good gym and wifi in the room

Ok for one night

Posted 09-Nov-2015
Pros: Friend.y, helpfu Staff Friendly helpful staff. Free wi-fi. Very nice breakfast with lots of variety. Nice views from many of the rooms
Cons: Decor in my room at least very tired. Tatty furniture and threadbare carpet. Needs major investment.
Location: Not applicable to this stay
I stayed at this hotel as we were having a family party there that night. As a single booking, you never expect a great room and this certainly wasn't a great room! Long and thin, dingy wallpaper, depressing, dim lighting. It was either too hot, with the radiator on or there was a howling gale lifting the curtains coming through the ill-fitting sash window. Ok for one night but I was glad it wasn't my base for any longer. Comfy bed though.
