Handy for centre of Cheltenham

Posted 23-Jan-2017
Pros: Price The gym breakfast
Cons: A bit more focus on the customers' enjoyment of their stay. ie don't wake guests up early on a Sunday morning with thoughtless housekeeping activities
Location: Good location close to Cheltenham (£8.50 taxi to town) Try the Daffodil Resaturant - great food, service and ambience
January 2017- This hotel is undergoing a refurbishment and reminded us of Fawlty Towers! We booked for our anniversary - a special treat as the children were with grandparents. There was no mention of the refurb on any of the bookings websites, maybe we should have guessed by the low price available! On the positive side, our room had been refurbished and was great for the price, although a 10 minute walk from Reception down a very long and very cold corridoor. Breakfast was great and there was a lovely lady who looked after us each morning. The gym was fantastic, although unmanned. The spa facilities were good though disappointing not to have more chairs or sunloungers. On the negative side, dinner in the main restaurant was bizzare! There was only a limited menu due to the refurb, but several things we tried to order were not available. The restaurant was brightly lit with no music, and much to our horror was freezing cold! We sat on a wobbly table near the entrance, feeling a bit like we were sitting in the corridoor, and giggled at the number of people who left the restaurant only to return with jumpers and cardis! I wore 2 cardis and had one over my knees to keep warm. Not the romantic anniversary dinner we had envisaged! Also, on Sunday morning we were woken by incredibly loud activity from housekeeping at 8.15am which on a rare weekend away from the children did not go down well! Large laundry trolleys were being pushed over ridged metal walkways making a huge racke

This is at present being renovated but this does not deter from the accommodation offered . Very glamorous and friendly staff.

Nice hotel, confortable, good gynm and spa facilities and not that far away from the town centre. Having direct access to the golf course would make it better.

Hotel ok, but very noisy. Room service bad.

Posted 05-Dec-2016
Pros: Not sure really. Parking was okay because it was free, although it took a while to find parking space.
Cons: Noise level should be reduced, may be install noiseless doors?? Room service, bad. Quality of food, poor but pricey!!
Location: Not sure, only stayed for one night.
Hotel was ok, but the noise level was terrible, could not sleep a wink due to loud voices and doors banging all through the night. Room service was hopeless; food horrible. Reception area quite dated and unimpressive. What star is this hotel? 1,2 or 3?

No lift, basin badly cracked.

Posted 09-Nov-2016
Although no lift staff did offer/carry our bags to the rooms. Wash hand basin in both rooms were badly cracked, and the toilet in one room didn't flush satisfactorily. However, room was very clean and adequate otherwise.

This hotel is not disabled friendly

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: The room was nice and breakfast was good. Ben on reception saved the reputation of the hotel by upgrading my room & apologised on behalf of the hotel
Cons: The lack of access for the disabled to rooms on the first floor & the lack of help by a female member of staff from the restaurant.
Location: Cheltenham Literary Festival Oct 7-16
I was upgraded to a spacious room by Ben on reception who saved the day because I complained on arrival due to being allocated a single room on the first floor without an elevator! I'm registered disabled and use two walking sticks due to poor mobility. I'd booked this room at Short notice as a 4star mystery hotel. I assumed it would provide disability access given it was a 4star hotel. However, that information was missing. This hotel should not participate in the mystery hotel discount scheme when they are unable to provide suitable access to all their rooms.
