    "Close to Relatives"
We chose the Bruce Hotel because it was close to where we would be visiting relatives as well as being close to the East Kilbride train station. It's quite a plain looking building from the outside but the lobby and ground floor amenities looked comfortable and inviting. The rooms have a 1960's appearance to them but were comfortable enough and provided satisfactory accommodation. Staff at the hotel were all very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was delightful. Our only complaint was that the rooms are not very sound proof and the heavy room doors and fire doors clang shut quite loudly. We also had the misfortune of being on a floor with a group of young men who lacked hotel etiquette and without adequate sound proofing were disruptive to a restful night's sleep.

    "Good location, very comfortable"
I would definitely stay here again for a night out in Glasgow city centre. The room was clean with very comfortable beds. Be prepared for loud music from the Corinthian nightclub next door but take some ear plugs and have a night cap to help you sleep! Breakfast was decent too.

"Good location for shops and theatre"
Theatre/shopping weekend with work colleagues. Two rooms booked at same time, thought we would have been on same floor. Obviously rooms allocated on first come basis, room on 10th floor may have been last room available. Also disappointed hotels have to charge for using car parks.

    "Somewhat disappointing"
We stayed for one night on the occasion of a wedding in Glasgow, so we were only there briefly returning around midnight to sleep. We chose it because it was convenient for the wedding venue and because, as “1 Devonshire Gardens”, it had had something of a good reputation and lots of our friends had stayed there. We had not had cause to stay in Glasgow for a long time and so thought that this would be a good opportunity to do so, despite the change of ownership. It was disappointing. It is really now just a chain hotel, somewhat run down and tired looking in places. The upper floor stair carpet for example was worn on the edges. The staff were pleasant, especially the Head Porter but on first arrival we were ignored by younger staff who were working in the entrance hall, despite the fact that we were carrying our luggage and struggling a little to open the outer door. This despite a sign inviting us to ring for a special welcome or words to that effect. The hotel was over-heated throughout and our room, which was to the rear was dark and far too hot. The room lighting options seemed to be either low mood lighting or blazing overhead down-lighters. Neither the door to the dressing room nor the door to the bathroom would close properly, which impacted somewhat on privacy. Otherwise the room was fine and well equipped. The bathroom had a very good shower as well as a roll-top bath, if you like that sort of thing. We took breakfast in the Bistro. It was somewhat crowded despite
