Beautiful hotel!
This hotel was beautiful and a quick walking distance from the bus stop, the old town, and the city. We thought the hotel had AC but it was not in our room, so we opened the window. Totally out of the hotels control, but one night there was a lot of screaming on the plaza outside so we didn’t sleep too well with the window open. The next night was much better!! Again- wonderful location and beautiful hotel with an amazing view. We loved the pink color as it made it easy to find.

The rest of the hotel rooms do have air conditioning but do not have the wonderful views of the sea that rooms like the one you occupied offer.We are glad to have met your expectations as our priority is to achieve the maximum possible satisfaction of our clients. Very nice hotel in a beautiful coastal town
Very nice hotel in a beautiful coastal town. The parking, which I o a bit expensive, is not onsite but not too far away. I wish they had in-room coffee service. Other than that it was excellent.

A lovely hotel despite the check-in hiccup!
A lovely hotel with a foyer full of furniture of character and interest as well as being very clean. The room we had was also spotless and was of a good size. The hotel is so handy for the beach as well as shopping. The only negative was the fact that it took about 15 minutes to check us in. Despite me producing paperwork confirming our reservation, it would appear that they had no record of it at reception. It took 3 staff members to sort it out. That was disconcerting! However, despite that hiccup, we would return to this hotel.

We take note of your comments, which help us to know the aspects that we must improve to offer a better service to our customers although we are surprised that the breakfast has seemed poor when it includes natural orange juice, coffee, tea or chocolate, different types of bread, tortilla, scrambled eggs and varied pastries (some made in the hotel itself). Excellent for the price and location. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. Room has this (one) long pillow, so we had to ask for 2 regular pillows (what two people would use one pillow??).

A growing love for a city
I've been coming to this hotel for over twenty years. What started out as annual business trips to Gijon, developed into a love for the city. Once the business trips stopped, I kept coming back for the vibe, the food, the lovely people and the stunning seafront. I've seen the transformation of the place and it has been all positive. I am even considering moving there from Madrid upon retirement. As for the Atlantic weather, I think of it as a year-long English summer.

Nice hotel in great location
Room was nice, clean and well equipped. Air con and free water in the fridge. Up to date bathroom. Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, just ask for something not on the menu and it was no problem, e.g. scrambled eggs on toast. Close to old part of town and harbour; bars, restaurants whilst being opposite the beach. Good wi fi in rooms as well as public areas. Very few English or English speaking in city, clearly mainly a resort for Spanish, you can still get by with very little Spanish, Google helped (voice search) even for drinks, food etc.

Second stay here.
Nice old style hotel on the seafront. I was just on a stop over before travelling onwards. I had stayed here before and liked it, the price was good.

Splendid Hotel for Time Travel
Alcomar can easily set one back into the turn of the century epoch (1900). Beautiful marble throughout the hotel. Bathroom splendor is achieved with red earth tone marble. Details for comfort included. The mattress could be updated for sure but for one night was tolerable.

quietly excellent hotel with a hint of olden days.
We were welcomed by the young lady at reception, friendly and efficiently. Our room was well furnished and had a comfortable bed. the bathroom was well equipted, and had constant hot water, with underfloor heating, though this did cause the room to be warmer than necessary, requiring the air conditioning to be on constantly on very hot days. Breakfast was simple but sufficient and the waiting staff were pleasant and helpful when language problems arose. This is a quiet hotel, despite some reviews complaining of late night noise and a disco till 4am! We experienced neither, and we were there in middle of July. The town was always very busy, but we did not experience anything other than people out walking, enjoying meals in any of the 100's of bars, cafes and restaurants, and generally having family fun. This may have been because there seemed to be only Spanish visitors, no Brits, Germans or French in evidence! We had fun making ourselves understood everywhere we went, No one spoke English!!

Las habitaciones excelentes, impecables y cómodas. El personal de recepción muy profesional y acogedores. Buena cafetería disponible y la ubicación frente a la playa inmejorable. Lo recomendamos al máximo.

La situación del hotel no puede ser mejor. En el centro. En el paseo de la playa de San Lorenzo. Al lado de todo. La habitación con vistas, espectacular. El hotel no tiene parking, pero el parking público está al lado, con bonos por días.

Respecto a la falta de agua caliente durante su estancia le pedimos nuevamente disculpas pero esta incidencia fue debida a una avería puntual e imprevisible por parte del hotel para cuya reparación fue necesario cortar el agua caliente durante un breve período de tiempo. Lamentamos no haber cumplido con sus expectativas y que no haya podido disfrutar plenamente de su estancia en el hotel.Estaríamos encantados de poder atenderle de nuevo para poder ofrecerle nuestros servicios y cambiar su percepción del hotel. Respecto al comentario de que el hotel es muy antiguo nos gustaría aclarar que entendemos que la decoración y el estilo clásico del hotel pueden no ser del agrado de algunos de nuestros clientes pero consideramos que no son antiguas y nos gustaría reseñar que se realizan las tareas necesarias para mantener las instalaciones en perfecto estado. Estimado cliente, Queremos agradecerle que haya elegido nuestro hotel para su estancia en Gijón y que dedique un poco de su tiempo a compartir su experiencia. Gracias por su buena valoración de nuestro establecimiento. Indicarle que su habitación no disponía de aire acondicionado porque Ud. ocupó una habitación con vistas al mar y en este tipo de habitación, debido a que el edificio que ocupa el hotel está catalogado urbanísticamente, no ha sido posible realizar las obras necesarias para poder instalar este servicio pero el resto de habitaciones del hotel si disponen de aire acondicionado. Respecto al ruido de la otra habitación lamentamos su experiencia pero no tenemos solución para el comportamiento de otros huéspedes que, probablemente sin ser conscientes de ello, causan alguna molestia al resto. Nos alegra haber cumplido con sus expectativas, esperamos que haya disfrutado de su estancia en el hotel y en nuestra ciudad y estaremos encantados de verle de nuevo. Un saludo!!
