This is the fifth time I've stayed at the Comfort Inn Gifu, and the only reason I gave it a four overall instead of a five is that the price has gone up considerably and I don't consider it a bargain any more. Having said that, it's still a place I'll stay if I'm in the area (which is basically every trip to Japan).
There have been some minor renovations, like new light switches with built in pilot lights so you can see them in the dark, and the front desk and breakfast area has been rearranged.
I will say this: the free breakfast is terrific. I used to skip it because I like the Vie de France at the JR Station so much, but this time I skipped VdF and ate in the hotel. They change it somewhat every day, and the choices are really tasty- they had "german potatoes" with sausage one morning which were great. There's also scrambled eggs, cereal, soup, onigiri rice balls, etc.
The wireless internet in the room worked like a charm, but they still have a computer in the lobby if you want to print something.
The staff, as always, is very helpful and friendly. It's still a great place to stay even if I think it's a little expensive.
