Great Hotel close to everything

Pros: Welcoming and comfortable, close to all amenities
Cons: No couch in room - only one plastic chair to sit on for two people
Location: walk to Simonds stadium, shopping and beach
Our stay at Rydges was good. The welcome by the staff was excellent and they were very friendly. Our room clean and the bed was so comfortable. I would definitely return to Rydges if I needed to stay in Geelong again

Needs Attention

When we arrived the room smelt of cigarettes which was noticed by 4 of us. I booked a Bay View room but the Bay was a long way off. They charged us an extra $18 to park for 1 night. Fruit at buffet was old. Room needs updating. Lifts are slow and old. Bathroom was only thing updated.

Air Con issues

Air Con was on flat out in heating mode. Could not turn it off or adjust it, just warm air constantly. Made sleep very difficult. Make sure you check its working ok before you book. Otherwise excellent.

boiling hot, rude staff, rubbish hotel

on Check in I asked for a room where the ac worked. it didn't. the staff didn't care and we rude at every touch point from counter to the restaturant. As a Mercure I knew what I was getting it need a reno but the staff were always great and accommodating. its a really run down buikding but if the temperature is right and the staff are friendly that would be fine. I felt very ripped off by the experience

Great hotel close to all Geelong has to offer

Fantastic, friendly customer service. Lovely big, clean rooms with very comfortable beds. Close to Geelong CBD, waterfront and AAMI stadium.

Room needs a overhaul, false claim made by staff

Pros: the beds were comfy as , if only we had pillows like them
Cons: complete overhaul, and in interest of safety for children secure large T.Vs as doesn't take much for a child to grab hold of it.
Location: Not much wasn't there for long enough to find out, nor will we return
Turned up to Rydges wife went inside only to find desk unattended for 5 minutes and other customer was there waiting even longer. We paid for a room with 2 queens and a view including breakfast. However the male staff member stated we have a room with city view and 1 queen bed however i made him aware that i booked via web and its 2 queen beds. He went on to say that the prices on the website you booked with are incorrect and the rooms are more than you are paying. Well with what i am about to write there not worth half of what i paid. Walked in and the room had a smokey smell to it and yes we smoke but went downstairs to foyer and had our smokes there as any non lazy person would. There were items missing from mini bar and my husband called reception immediately as we hadn't even unpacked or unzipped our bags as we both don't drink,even offer the member to search our bags so they then would no we haven't stashed it but he could see we just got up there as had 1 small bag 1 oxygen machine and 1 laptop. This is another reason we don't nor would smoke in room as the oxygen is a medical device and oxygen is flammable. Then on the wall there is graffiti that has been painted over only for it to be bleeding through the paintwork, didn't bother us but i am certain it would others. Pillows were terrible but beds were comfy but couldn't get a good nights rest with those pillows even our 2 and half year old son found them not comfy as he couldn't sleep. Mould can say more no room to

Desperate if need room

Beds ok, bathroom old and door was showing signs of water damage, mold in bathroom and very small. Carpet in room filthy with stains. Walking distance to street and hospital, the only bonus Had to also pay for unsecured parking.
