Chose this hotel primarily because it had a pool. However pool was closed because they couldn't get a cleaner to clean it. Very disappointed, especially in middle of summer. On a good note, restaurant food was fantastic.

Close to all activities

Liked the place , the only I didnt like the shallow swimming pool for kids was very dirty nobody had bothered to clean it was full of bugs. I sugges a mesh cover or at least a mesh bug catcher so the guest can use and clean themselves if necessary

Pros: Staff
Cons: Lack of parking and needs to improve cleanliness
Room was dirty, bathroom dirty and old. Hair on the bed (which wasn't mine) and dirt on the cover. Marks in the shower, it was disgusting. We had 2 rooms and my friend had an updated room with a walk in shower, her room was much nicer and actually clean.

Great place to stay

Posted 10-Nov-2016
We only stayed one night, but check in was easy and quick. Room was clean and comfortable, the shower was great. Room service breakfast was lovely and good value for money. Looking forward to staying again on our next trip to Geelong.

very old rooms, cracks on walls, a massive spider!

Posted 08-Nov-2016
Pros: The staff were friendly and we're happy to refund the money to find another hotel to stay. They gave us complementary breakfast as we had to move a few rooms ( and ofcourseeee pay extra for that!)
Cons: - first room we checked into smelt like strong fresh paint (even though the lady at the reception said they haven't painted in ages) - for a room for 4 adults, there was only one small closet that won't fit anything! - cracked walls and spider webs - we finally checked in and took 2 seperate rooms ( but they made us pay more) we found a massive spider on the wall!!! - breakfast is very poor! Tasted so eggy and a very small variety.
Location: - hotel is on a corner so it was VERY windy and you could hear that in your room, which is annoying when you're trying to sleep

The room was a furnace !!!!!

Posted 31-Oct-2016
Pros: Other staff friendly , centrally located
Cons: Definitely aircon and heating !! $350 for two nights is a total rip based on my above complaints !!
On the first night 29/10/16 when we returned after dinner our room was stuffy and shockingly hurt , upon fiddling with the aircon switch and getting nowhere I went downstairs to complain and the lady told me she cannot do much to bring it down to cool level as other guests will start complaining , I enquired why and was told that since my room was in the old wing the heating/aircon was centrally controlled by reception and I had no control over it and if she puts it to my requirements other guests will start complaining !! This was comical as I've never come across a situation where reception controls aircon and heating and my complaint and discomfort had no bearing because the hotel was more worried about OTHER guests !!! Upon asking to speak to the night manager the lady tells me she was the night manager , shocker !!!

Hi VJ, Thank you for your recent stay at Mercure Geelong and providing us with some feedback on your stay. I do apologise for the inconvenience our air conditioning caused during your recent stay. Unfortunately our system does need updating and this is currently being looked into. I also wish to advise that the employee you mention in your feedback has been spoken to and agree that on this occasion your complaint and inconvenience could have been handled better. Once again I do apologise for the discomfort you experienced at the Mercure Geelong. Kind Regards, Emily Etheridge, Sales Manager, Mercure Geelong.

Great Central Location

Posted 21-Oct-2016 on Wotif
Cons: Rooms are a bit on the tired side but very spacious and reasonably clean. Carpet could have done with being steam cleaned or replaced
Facilities & Staff are excellent. Great central location for enjoying all that Geelong CBD has to offer.

Location: Geelong waterfront and shops.
Warm and quiet. Comfortable. Too low for view of sea but large bathroom easy to use and safe.
