Excellent for flying to/from Gatwick

Pros: Easy proximity to Gatwick North.
We booked in to the Sofitel Gatwick as we were flying out of Gatwick North Terminal. Excellent choice. The Hotel facilities were excellent and the room was perfect with a great view of aircraft. The beds were most comfortable, so woke up fully rested for a long haul flight.

Convenient for the air terminal but that's all

When checking in we were greeted by a miserable young lady who was obviously bored with her job, the room had few facilities just two teabags my wife had a shower and the water would not drain away , she found the problem, matted hair blocking the plug hole, towels were not clean and one was badly stained,the walls were thin and we could clearly hear conversations from next room. Pillow was uncomfortable. We certainly would not recommend this expensive hotel, extortionate restaurant prices too.

Perfect stay at airport

Pros: Friendly staff; easy access to north terminal
Location: Direct connection to north terminal check in area - perfect!
The room was very comfortable and the overall hotel amenities were perfect for an overnight stay prior to a long haul flight back home. The choice of lounges and restaurants was good and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. The walk over to the North terminal is covered and you are at checkin within minutes.

Good Hotel

Pros: I liked the proximity to both the north and south airport terminals.
Location: It is located in the north terminal of Gatwick.
The check in experience was good. The lobbyis well laid out.

Pleasant welcome but

Pros: Location
Cons: More staff, better signage. Clearer instructions from front desk staff re card access to lift.
Location: Gatwick has very little to offer compared to Heathrow
Room was made up for four with little floor space . It took forever to get the room changed as there were no housekeeping staff available to change the room configuration. We were asked to come to the front desk for the key change , I refused. Moved to another room with an adjoining door that we had specifically asked not to have. Finally at a third attempt we get a room. This hotel has too few staff for a 5 star hotel. The foyer lounge is uncomfortable and sterile. The bar was up a flight of stairs nothing for disabled. The Concierge was no where to be seen and I was told he was helping with luggage The bell boy finally helped me book a table in the restaurant. For the price this was a rip off.

Good luck getting your Expedia VIP Amenities!

Pros: Very NIce modern room
Cons: Management system for VIP service and follow through from front desk to restaurants.
Location: Nothing nearby - you are stuck here it's an airport
Nice Place, I was happy with check in and room but when I went to try and get VIP drinks and discount on food there was nothing but confusion. I felt bad for server because none of them knew what to do, I went to front desk and they said they would fix it , but no they didn't . I had to then go to restaurant manger and he fixed it. It really makes me angry when a business offers VIP but screws it up like this hotel! I was only at hotel for 16 hours and I spent close to 1 hour getting this sorted out. If this is how well Expedia has the VIP treatment arranged then don't bother!

Convenient location

The hotel was close to both the trains and the airport centre, we loved the convenience. Amazingly, for being an airport hotel, we did not hear a single plane either. And the service was excellent. Very accommodating.
