Nice hotel close to Angel of the north

Posted 25-May-2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: Information about the hotel and any transport to nearby Newcastle or Gateshead in the room would be beneficial to guests,
Location: The Angel of the north was in walking distance
Staff very helpful, food was very very good, spoke with Lee (chef)who was happy to tell us how the peppercorn sauce was made which was very tasty, no complaints about our stay at The Angel View.

Cons: The bed has to be changed, quite dated, backaches after a night. Sorry but got to make your bed comfortable
Location: away from traffic of busy city nearby but quite near and accessible motorway access
hotel has a restaurant pub which is very good for breakfast, meals and drinks late night. Staff are very pleasing, good check in, check out and restaurant service.

Heating/Customer Service Issues

Posted 16-Apr-2017
Too long to explain the farce but the heating couldn't be turned down, the room couldn't be changed, staff not the most helpful, we were still charged initially, even though we left within a few hours of arriving as our child was still awake (and melting) at nearly midnight Took a week to sort, but got there after several calls. We ended up going to a Premier Inn along the road which we should have done in the first place; the room was much nicer, a better price and the customer service was second to none.

Definitely stay again

Great place. Food good and reasonably priced. Very clean. Take ear plugs if you not used to traffic noise. Wasn't full on but could hear it. I live where it's practically silent at night time and the traffic noise didn't bother me but thought it worth mentioning as it would be a shame if that was the only thing that upset you about this hotel.

Handy for work but not the best hotel.

Posted 19-Dec-2016 on Hotels
Our second visit here. This time we stayed in a "superior" room (given a free upgrade on arrival) whereas we'd been in the stable block before. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. However, the room was at the furthest point of the hotel, it was cold as the central heating radiator wasn't working (fortunately they had provided an oil radiator which warmed the room up in about 30 minutes but that tied up one of the only two available plug sockets), the shower was poor and the bed proved to be rather uncomfortable. We booked a table for 8pm. Unfortunately our friends were late arriving due to being held up in traffic, so we only just managed to get our main courses before the chefs went home at 9pm, therefore no desserts, not even ice cream! The food was adequate, but nothing to rave about especially at the price. Breakfast was ok, but we've had better for the price. Overall, a bit disappointing after our previous visit, where we had found the room in the stable block to be more comfortable. Would we come back? Judgment reserved on that one.

One of the friendliest places we have stayed.

My wife and I often stop at the Angel View Inn when visiting the North East. It is well sited, allowing easy access to all the key attractions of Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne and of the surrounding areas. The staff are always friendly and helpful, thinking nothing of going out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. It is often our first choice of accommodation, even when being closer to Newcastle town centre is preferable.
