Definitely stay again

Posted 17-Jan-2017
Great place. Food good and reasonably priced. Very clean. Take ear plugs if you not used to traffic noise. Wasn't full on but could hear it. I live where it's practically silent at night time and the traffic noise didn't bother me but thought it worth mentioning as it would be a shame if that was the only thing that upset you about this hotel.

One of the friendliest places we have stayed.

My wife and I often stop at the Angel View Inn when visiting the North East. It is well sited, allowing easy access to all the key attractions of Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne and of the surrounding areas. The staff are always friendly and helpful, thinking nothing of going out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. It is often our first choice of accommodation, even when being closer to Newcastle town centre is preferable.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Posted 11-Nov-2016 on Hotels
we were given the key for a stable room, the key couldn't open the door, we informed reception to be told "oh that lock was supposed to have been fixed" she then gave us a room inside The corridor absolutely stunk of smoke, in the room the bathroom stunk of faeces. We reported this and were told "oh that will be the drains" and "we have a man staying who has been told not to smoke in his room" There are no smoking signs round. I was very annoyed as I am asthmatic and he was putting peoples lives at risk. We had twin beds and the duvets were thin and hardly covered the beds, the carpet was dirty. Trying to get to sleep impossible as someone was snoring, we thought it was someone drilling. The walls are so thin. We asked reception for an 8 o'clock wake up call, they woke us at 7.The creaking of the ceiling and the creaking noise from below, woke us from people getting up early, reception just stated that "the building is an old one" The continental breakfast consisted of toast, juice, cereal, yogurt--- no croissants or Danish pastries, no cheeses or ham etc. that generally is offered. There are plenty of good alternative accommodations in the area, and they don't accept dogs, but our dogs are used to staying in hotels that are clean and we wouldn't want them staying here. Would not stay again.

reasonable hotel

Posted 14-Oct-2016 on Hotels
I recently stayed at the Angel View whilst on a business trip to the area. The hotel itself is quiote a nice place. the bar area is good and so is the retaurant with a good menu at reaonable prices. I had a superior room in the main block. the room was large and well equipped but the furniture is showing signs of age as it the bathroom. There was a bedside cabinet with a top that had the veneer coming off a corner which left quite a sharp edge and the sealant in the bathroom is ready for replacing in parts or rerquires a very deep clean to remopve the black stains. the bed in the room was extremly hard and it took some getting used to but some people like a bed like thiat, I prefer one with a bit of give in it. The hotel is a bit isolated in its position next to the A1 but it has a stunning view of the Angel hence the name. Breakfast was good but I had quite a wait to get served, im had a glass of juice andf 2 cups of tea before I even saw a waitress to order any food but after i ordered it the the food came quickley and it was fresh although I think £9.50 is a little steep for the quantity and what was on offer. However i would probably stay again just for the convience if nothing else.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only slight thing was that the window in the room we were staying in was not very big and it did feel a bit dark. But just for one or two nights it was fine.

One night stopover

We stayed on our way to Northumberland. Very convenient for Angel of the North. Did not eat at hotel because we thought the breakfast was expensive for what we would eat and the evening menu did not cater for our taste and dietary restrictions.
