Handy for work but not the best hotel.

Our second visit here. This time we stayed in a "superior" room (given a free upgrade on arrival) whereas we'd been in the stable block before. The receptionist was helpful and friendly.
However, the room was at the furthest point of the hotel, it was cold as the central heating radiator wasn't working (fortunately they had provided an oil radiator which warmed the room up in about 30 minutes but that tied up one of the only two available plug sockets), the shower was poor and the bed proved to be rather uncomfortable.
We booked a table for 8pm. Unfortunately our friends were late arriving due to being held up in traffic, so we only just managed to get our main courses before the chefs went home at 9pm, therefore no desserts, not even ice cream! The food was adequate, but nothing to rave about especially at the price. Breakfast was ok, but we've had better for the price.
Overall, a bit disappointing after our previous visit, where we had found the room in the stable block to be more comfortable.
Would we come back? Judgment reserved on that one.
