Nice hotel close to downtown

Nice hotel and spa close to Quay St. and Eyre Square. Comfortable rooms with good food and drinks. WE were able to walk to Quay St to take in the sights and sounds.

Mixed feelings

Posted 06-May-2018
Pros: The room and the view it had. Also there was a lovely balcony attached. The room and bath was very generous in size. Truly the highlight.
Cons: Front desk staff, executive lounge.
Location: Close to Eyre Square and Latin Quarters.
Disappointing. Greeted by stone cold front desk reception. No greetings, let alone conversations. Certainly suitable for a morgue position. We were on the executive floor, great room with truly awesome views. But the executive lounge has only a coffee machine, nothing else, there should be snacks. Period. However, there were other staff that were helpful. After making several enquiries, I was told that some wine, beers and soft drinks would be made available at 6pm - not many seemed aware. This should have been told at check-in.

Disappointing/Poor Service

Posted 27-Apr-2018
Pros: The lobby and lounge area was nice and comfortable.
I thought this was going to be the best hotel of our trip, turns out it was very disappointing. Our (2) rooms were 2 elevator rides and a mile long walk with baggage in tow. Along the walk was a display of room service meals left in the hallway. We asked if there was an alternate route to our rooms (maybe an entrance across the street where our rooms actually were) and were told no. We requested that our neighbors tray be removed from the hall because of the stink in the hallway, but it was not removed for many hours. When we went to breakfast in the morning, we were seated away from the rest of the guests and the service was poor. Multiple concerns brought to the attention of the staff were responded to by the comment "that is what you booked." I booked an exceptionally expensive hotel and was treated like a second-class citizen. We asked if we were treated differently because we booked through Expedia and they informed us we were. I would not recommend. Maybe if you book direct, you will be happier than we were.

Stayed at The Galmont for the Connemarathon for the second year - excellent staff , good restaurants and bar plus two storey parking at good prices - 5 min walk to Quay Street and views over the water - only request - more water pressure for the shower

Great Location

Posted 19-Apr-2018
Pros: It's location.
Cons: The lifts. The lifts always brought us to the wrong floor. Also, a long walk from the lift to our room. Not good if you have mobility issues.
Location: Great location. Great restaurants and pubs.
Very central hotel. Only criticism is the lifts, and lack of lifts. We had a long walk to get to our room which is not great if you're mobility isn't good.
