Great Location

Posted 19-Apr-2018
Pros: It's location.
Cons: The lifts. The lifts always brought us to the wrong floor. Also, a long walk from the lift to our room. Not good if you have mobility issues.
Location: Great location. Great restaurants and pubs.
Very central hotel. Only criticism is the lifts, and lack of lifts. We had a long walk to get to our room which is not great if you're mobility isn't good.

Reasonable hotel, friendly staff, good value

Posted 11-Apr-2018
Pros: Above average.
Cons: Facility and service.
Good hotel, walking distance to downtown, good ambiance, good staff. The property is due for renewal for sure. The bar and restaurants are very good and the spa is regionally recognized. We stayed here two night and traveled around Galway. If you rent a car, remember that parking is extra. Service could be better for such hotel. I wouldn't say excellent, but better than average. There are few options in Galway and i think Galmont has a good proximity to downtown, etc.

Galway hotel

Posted 05-Apr-2018
Pros: clean and simple, safe, easy walk to city center, parking available
Having been off the beaten path for the majority of our Ireland trip, Galway was a bit much on our senses (tourist-wise). We ended up at this hotel after going to our first one and was completely unsatisfied. This hotel is big (there are a lot of rooms and it's very busy) but our check-in was easy (especially after Expedia changed our reservations last minute) and the room fit our needs. It was a simple room and clean - nothing too fancy. We stayed two nights and only used their bar for drinks which was nice. There is a wonderful coffee shop in the same complex outside of the hotel- great coffee! You do have to walk to get to the city center and restaurants but it really is not bad (10 min max) and was nice after eating and visiting pubs. If you have a car they have a big part structure at I think 8 Euros a night. One of the nights it was full but we found another structure next to it for 10 Euros - just make sure they don't charge for all the nights if you didn't end up parking for a night. Otherwise, would recommend.

Not up to standard

Posted 02-Apr-2018
Hotel room was fine, but our stay overall was unfortunately disappointing. The outdoor hot tub was closed as a new one was being installed and this was one of the big reasons we had booked this hotel - the hotel should have had a notice on their website about this. When we came home someone had vomited at the front entrance and I slipped in it which was both disgusting and a safety hazard. When I alerted the front desk they didn’t seem phased or feel an apology was necessary. The most bizarre and upsetting part of our stay however was when the front desk called our room at 3AM to tell us they had found my handbag - except I didn’t lose my handbag. I guess whoever lost their handbag had the same last name that I did, but not the same first name. So I’m not sure why the hotel staff felt the need to ring me in the middle of the night and cause a startle, when they could see on the reservation that it wasn’t a different name. Also for the rate per night, the hotel should have more than 2 elevators and the breakfast was disappointing for the price.

Handy for Galway centre

Posted 31-Mar-2018
Pros: Handy for city centre
Cons: Clarify the car park charges on advertising the rates and when booking
The staff were very helpful. When I asked for a quiet place to read away from the muzak I was given access to an executive lounge. I was pleased with the way they handled my concern about the car parking charge, when I said it wasn't clear at the initial booking.

Always a pleasure!!

Posted 30-Mar-2018
Pros: Everything!!! Location, hotel look, rooms, food, evening bar atmosphere and staff!
Cons: We could stay longer :)
Location: Location is ideal. 5 minute walk to Eyre Square and surrounding bars and restaurants. Galway has to be one of the best locations for food and fun.
This is our 2nd visit to the hotel and we left already talking about our next visit. Location is superb, the hotel is so bright and welcoming, the rooms are spotless and the beds are pure luxury. Breakfast is a veritable feast with great service and fantastic food choices and nothing is too much trouble to the staff. We also spent a few hours in the pool and spa which is also spotless and at no point was overcrowded. Your staff are a credit to you as all teams were extremely friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Thanks again for a super weekend!!!
