Very handy location

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff and location
Cons: Given that I thought the rate of the room was over priced, having to pay for parking was very annoying
The staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was nice but not worth the cost of the stay. I would probably stay there again if the hotel rate was more reasonable.

Great location and service

Posted 06-Jun-2016 on Hotels
Parking was full when I arrived on Friday before Bank Holiday, but after two minutes someone needed to leave and I got their spot. Check in, check out, and all interactions with staff were great. They were knowledgeable and swift. Breakfast was very good, lots of hot food, baked goods, fruit, cereals, etc. The gym is available 24 hours! The machines are a bit dated but work. It's just a few blocks from downtown Galway. I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. The room decor is a bit old and boring. The room view was a bit ugly. That said, it was quite comfortable and functional. I was in Galway to see Galway, so the decor didn't matter much to me anyhow.

no complaints, nothing exceptional

overall, mediocre. decent bed, outdated climate control, rather worn out bathroom. clean enough, but room needed a refresh (rusty fixtures, eg). below average tv. nice personnel, convenient enough location.

Pleasant Welcoming to Ireland

We enjoyed our stay at Harbour. Being from the South US, we were a little shocked that the hotel did not have air conditioning and our room became quite hot at times, but perhaps I missed that in the description. The service was fantastic- everyone we dealt with was polite and helpful. The pillows and bed were not as comfortable as they could have been, but we were so tired after each day's adventures that we didn't really care. The breakfast buffet was tasty! Shopping, nightlife, banks, etc are just a very short walk away, but fat enough that you don't encounter the noise and traffic at the hotel.

Great location- Erratic food

Posted 17-May-2016
Pros: Staff courtesy and cleanliness
Cons: Food consistency.
Location: GREAT location! Close to Eyre square, the pedestrian center with its continual music, close to the river and the Claddagh area.
So close to the Harbour- we had several full days out and could easily walk back to the hotel. Easy walk from the bus station as well! Nice and clean and very helpful staff! The restaurant was either very good or not great. The service was so-so because they appeared very busy. The soup was outstanding on Day 1, but when go it again on Day 2, it was not as good. Same with the tea and sausages. The decor is a bit odd- it feels a bit gothic and Halloweeny- standing candelabras with flickering (real!) candles, web-like door handles and lots of purple velvet. Rooms were very clean and the directions for how to adjust the water flow were very helpful.
