Just "ok"...

Posted 19-Jun-2017
Pros: Location; breakfast.
Cons: Staff could work on being a little more polite and helpful. The hotel could use some improvements (supposed to be in the process- so that's good).
Location: Fun town; great location; short walk to Eyre Square; shopping; pubs; Galway Bay; Pier; restaurants
Our stay at this hotel was adequate. It was nothing special. When we arrived we were greeted by a less than friendly young woman who seemed bothered to have to check us in and give us our room information. (We were the only ones in the lobby at the time). The room we stayed in was fairly small. The decor was a little out dated but in fairness, they were supposed to be in the process of updating the hotel (although I didn't see anything while we were there). The attached restaurant provided a nice breakfast each day and Lucha was extremely polite and accommodating which was a nice contrast to the rest of the staff we encountered. On the plus side, the hotel is in a great location and is only a short walk to the Eyre Square and the city centre area.

Nice hotel in the center of the city.

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked that the original part of the building had been left in tact when the new rooms were added.
Cons: The room was hot and I didn't see any AC controls in it. An oscillating fan would have been appreciated.
Location: Great location on the square and walking distance to shopping and historical sites. The pubs were great and we really enjoyed the music.
We were in Galway City for the Early Music Festival and the hotel was perfectly situated for us to walk to all of the events. The lobby, pub, and dining areas were beautiful and reminiscent of old times. I particularly loved the old mail slots behind the reception desk. The room was modern and very nice. It was obviously an addition to the original building so the elevator did not go up to this floor so there was a short stair case that went to the room after leaving the elevator.

"Close to everything" has pros and cons

Posted 08-May-2017
Pros: location, homey
Cons: elevator, soundproofing
Location: Eyre Square park, bar district, easy walk to train station, Spanish Arch and the water
Easy walk to conference, coffee and the lively Galway bar scene...but when the Guinness and other delivery and pickup trucks arrive at 6 am or earlier... go for a room that doesn't overlook the street. Otherwise, apart from a slow elevator, no complaints at all. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff

In the centre of it all

The Eyre Square hotel was close to it all. Be it music pubs or shopping. Or just the tours. The town of Galway has a very young vibe. The staff were very helpful and extremely pleasant as I was waiting for my lost bag to catch up with me. I would definitely stay here again.
