Location was everything.

Posted 24-Jul-2017
Pros: Comfort and proximity
Cons: Perhaps provide fans in each room to help cut the noise from the street so that guests can keep the windows closed and still have air.
Great staff and the breakfast was wonderful. The place is clean and the room large and well equipped. It is right in the center of the city so easy to walk to everything. The room I had faced to the very, very noisy street but I felt like it was a price to pay for being in the center of everything. I tried to shut the window but it made little difference to the noise from the street and then it was too hot.

A great choice

We wanted to stay in a castle. While this one isn't quite as old as we had thought it would be that also meant we had all if the great creature comforts.

Great location in Galway.

Comfortable room, great hotel staff, and good restaurant for all meals. Would recommend to anyone staying in Galway - location is close to everything. Parking is expensive though.

Hotel has a good location, but extremely noisy fro

The bar across the street partied with very loud music until 2am, then the partiers continued the party in the street for another hour. If that is your scene then you will love it. Bed was not very comfortable, but the room and bath were clean and the continental breakfast was plentiful and had many choices. Inexpensive as well.

The quality of the rooms and overall decor was a bit dated and lacking. The staff was pleasant and I appreciate them holding my bags after check out while I was on a day tour to the Cliffs. I could hear the band playing in the bar downstairs until about 11 p.m. with the base thumping up the walls to the 3rd floor where my room was. After a long day of sightseeing, this noise made it difficult to rest.

Great location

Pros: -Located within walking distance to bus station, Eyre Square, shopping district, and across the street from a small convenience store that's open late for those who need a cool beverage. -Felt very safe -Computer and printer for use (with a charge. I think it was 1 euro for five minutes?) -Delicious breakfast, particularly good croissants Cons: -No air conditioning/fridge/microwave. It was rather cold during our stay in the city, but the room was pretty warm even with the window open. AC, fridge, and microwave aren't common to hotels here, but we would have appreciated a fan at minimum.

Just "ok"...

Posted 19-Jun-2017
Pros: Location; breakfast.
Cons: Staff could work on being a little more polite and helpful. The hotel could use some improvements (supposed to be in the process- so that's good).
Location: Fun town; great location; short walk to Eyre Square; shopping; pubs; Galway Bay; Pier; restaurants
Our stay at this hotel was adequate. It was nothing special. When we arrived we were greeted by a less than friendly young woman who seemed bothered to have to check us in and give us our room information. (We were the only ones in the lobby at the time). The room we stayed in was fairly small. The decor was a little out dated but in fairness, they were supposed to be in the process of updating the hotel (although I didn't see anything while we were there). The attached restaurant provided a nice breakfast each day and Lucha was extremely polite and accommodating which was a nice contrast to the rest of the staff we encountered. On the plus side, the hotel is in a great location and is only a short walk to the Eyre Square and the city centre area.

Nice hotel in the center of the city.

Posted 10-Jun-2017
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked that the original part of the building had been left in tact when the new rooms were added.
Cons: The room was hot and I didn't see any AC controls in it. An oscillating fan would have been appreciated.
Location: Great location on the square and walking distance to shopping and historical sites. The pubs were great and we really enjoyed the music.
We were in Galway City for the Early Music Festival and the hotel was perfectly situated for us to walk to all of the events. The lobby, pub, and dining areas were beautiful and reminiscent of old times. I particularly loved the old mail slots behind the reception desk. The room was modern and very nice. It was obviously an addition to the original building so the elevator did not go up to this floor so there was a short stair case that went to the room after leaving the elevator.
