Bed made me itch. The floor was crusty with dirt. No iron, although the host did provide me one when I walked over to ask because there was a prop phone/ no lan line.

The motel was under reconstruction, and there was a lot of debris. The mattress was severely stained.

This is an old derelict hotel property that a bunch of young people purchased for a song. They reinvest in exterior painting, so they can sell it in the future. The toilet handle could not be flushed without the entire toilet seat falling back down. The coffee maker in the room was circa 1974 it worked but was all plastic even the pot. There were only 6 guests staying there and yet their low-cost wireless internet would not even allow me to log in from my room: I had to log in downstairs in the office. The AC unit was so old that it would ice up on the bottom and would drip onto a few towels on top of the carpet. This is a mold generator for sure. Do yourself a favor and drive right on by this horrible place.

The only thing we liked was the air conditioning was excellent. The rooms need to be refurnished with new furniture and new carpeting. The outside of the hotel needs to be cleaned and painted.

The staff was friendly and nice, the website advertised morning breakfast, which the unit did not have. The pool was dirty, the room was clean, however, killed three roaches in the room. The one night we were there.

It’s a decent stay if you’re looking for a place to sleep and shower only and not so much spend time in. Definitely a place for people who are ok with a stay that has the bare minimum and not luxurious.

Centipede in room and some other bug. Carpet needs to be removed or replaced. Remodel recommended. Staff was nice. Bed was comfortable but pillows were not. It was quiet with heater unit turned off. Not sure I’d stay there a second time. Sorry.

I didn't like how the air conditioning wasn't working in our room. It took me 3 times complaining to finally get moved to another room. Also I requested a non smoking room, but was somehow placed in a smoking room.

About what I expected
It’s about what you would expect for a hotel next to the highway, but clean. No problems with check in. Parking was good.

Beware for extra charges
The room was very dark, I had to bring my own lamp just so I could see. I have a service dog,(yes a real 1) I was charged extra plus they kept my deposit cause they claim, since the dog was there extra cleaning had to be done. It only took them aprox. 15 minutes to clean the room. I seen bugs in the restroom and when u flushed the toilet there was a very loud high pitch sound coming from the toilet. Not good considering you had to flush 2-3 times just so it would go down. Not a happy place to be, and if your there to relax (as i was suppose to do) go somewhere else.When i asked about my deposit back he said he is refusing to give me a room cause thats his right. How refuse me b4 I stay & pay.

I love gateway inn they are always fast convienant and amazing they have good pricing compared to other hotels in madera and they are the cleaner hotel by far andthey are very friendly n quick....i enjoy staying here and will continue to book here n recommend gateway for anyone who travels to madera or needs a quick retret from annoying friends and family....thanks gateway

It was in a safe quit location. Lots of food options within a mile circle and gas close by. A little out dated but not the worst I’ve seen.

The night I arrived to check in I had to do it thru a small window, the room was dirty, the drain in the bathroom sink was mostly clogged. The toilet made terrible noises after flushing. The shower head was in need of replacing, only had a couple of streams of water coming out. The door to the bathroom wouldn’t close, there were exposed screws sticking out in the bathroom door jamb. The evening chair in the room was filthy, it had so many stains on it that I wouldn’t sit in it. It was disgusting & I will never stay there again period!
