Did not get a chance to investigate the town, which looked interesting. Food was good and service was excellent. It was a little hard finding the hotel because of construction under the streets. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and the bathrooms immaculate.
We decided to stay in Foligno as a convenient jumping off point to Assisi, Perugia and other places nearby. But we discovered the city to be really delightful with a wonderful museum. Hotel Italia was literally yards from the main square, walkable to the train station and with a friendly, helpful staff and a wonderful restaurant just a step away. Highly recommended.

This hotel has the most beautiful patio/garden area with a stunning view of the countryside. Parking is available 1 minute from the hotel which is an asset for doing daily trips around the area knowing you have a park when you get back. Two excellent restaurants within 10 metres of the hotel. The hotel is old and the tradition of the era has been retained in the bedrooms. My room looked out over the roof tops to the church spire and the hills beyond - lovely to wake up to. The staff were very accommodating with all my queries, and recommended different places to visit. The small streets of Spello are quaint and worth an wander round all of them. I also found the locals very friendly and helpful.

Very friendly staff and a comfortable and clean hotel. Perfect location for basing your stay in this area. No English spoken so make sure you brush up on your basic Italian if like us you're coming over from the UK. They were though patient and warm when trying to communicate.

The 12th-century Duomo with its idiosyncratic carved façade and the Pinacoteca in the 14th-century Palazzo dei Signori justify a visit to Foligno. The church of Santa Maria Infraportas has Byzantine frescoes. In mid-June and mid-September, Foligno dons medieval pageantry for the Giostra della Quintana, when rival 'knights' from different districts compete in jousting matches.
