Great location!

Posted 19-Feb-2017
My family and I just got back from spending 5 nights at the Southernmost and overall it was wonderful. It is located at the end of Duval St so it's close to the fun but it was quiet back in our room when we wanted peace and quiet. I was able to watch the sunrise from the private beach area which was nice. We had a partial ocean view in building A and it was perfect. The pool was nice with a pool bar and service in the pool area which was convenient. The beach is shared with the public so you have to make sure to get a resort towel or a guy will come bother you and try to charge you $10 to use a chair. The beach was disappointing. It's very small and crowded with just a tiny area to swim from because of the coral. The private sandy beach area is just a place to lounge, there is no swimming from it. It's quiet and relaxing. We saw a wedding on it while we were there and it was beautiful. We went over to Higgs beach which was very nice. There are hammocks in the grassy area. My teenagers fell asleep on them and it was their favorite place to be. Cons: The resort fee is ridiculous since the nightly rate is already so high and the fact that they charge $20 a night to park is also insulting. Other than that though, we enjoyed ourselves and would return in the future. Side note: Chickens are everywhere. If you don't like chickens, Key West is not for you! They wake you up every morning. We liked them and felt like it just added to the charm of the island

Can do a lot better for what you pay

Posted 19-Feb-2017
The hotel room we got was small and smelt weird. We got another room in the tower what was better for extra $. The breakfast facility is limited and the crew not the smartest people who made a lot of mistakes (yes even with a simple breakfast). Most staff we met was polite but very uninterested. We preferred to look for a bar outside the hotel and there are plenty. The hotel is nice but again for the money we expect a higher service level. Not going there a second time.

Very good service. Have own private beach

Great food and service. Own beach, three pools, tanning pier, large rooms with great products in shower. Near many fun things to do.

Nice hotel close to the beach and shops

Posted 17-Feb-2017
Very nice hotel, close to the beach and the shops without being too near the crowd. We got a nice room on the corner, above the swimming pool. Noisy the first night for a privare wedding party, quite the other nights.

Nice hotel in a good location

Posted 15-Feb-2017
This is a classy hotel in a great location in Key West. The property fronts the ocean and Duval St (main drag in Key West). We had a nice room with 2 comfortable beds and a great balcony from which we could see a peek of ocean. Had lunch at one of the hotel's restaurants right on the beach and it was good. Did not try any other restaurants there because Key West is lttterd with great places to eat and we had a list from our daughter of places to try. Rented bikes from the hotel and were never in a car except to and from the airport.

Accommodating staff, facility somewhat flawed.

Location: Worth the one hour drive to Bahia Honda state park for a very nice beach.
The hotel's website and its name present it as a beachfront hotel. But the beach is A TINY PUBLIC BEACH next door, not on hotel property, there is a lot of coral that prevents you from entering the water except in a small spot, and it is very crowded. We did not use the beach, but drove to Bahia Honda state park, which was very nice. Though an hour away, it was worth the drive. Our room faced an active street, not the beach, and the rooms that face the water are also exposed to a noisy bar that stays open late. The Air Conditioning unit was adequate, but for some mysterious reason it didn't extract humidity from the air. Our room smelled moldy, and though it was cool, the humidity felt higher than outdoors. Wet clothing didn't dry during a three day stay!

The place to be!

Posted 12-Feb-2017
Southernmost resort was an excellent place for everything that is Key West. Located at the southern end of Duval St, beach, bars, shops, restaurants are all a close walk. Our next trip to Key West will definitely require staying at Southernmost Resort.

Not quite worth the nightly rate

Posted 12-Feb-2017
Pros: Tranquility pool was quiet and had comfortable chairs.
We were disappointed when we arrived at the resort. The pictures online only show the best views (there are only a few actual beachfront rooms) and the resort is essentially a motel. We arrived late (2am) and found our room to be musty and moldy smelling. It was unbearable and we asked to change rooms. They moved us to another room, which had a similar smell but not as strong. There was no offer to upgrade rooms or discount the price. The adult only pool was quiet and the best part of the resort. The beach cafe on property was overpriced and the food wasn't spectacular. Would love to visit Key West again but wouldn't stay at the Southernmost Beach Resort.
