Great stop on your way to/from Key West!

Posted 02-May-2016
Cons: Drinks are a bit pricey at the tiki bar, but well made.
Location: Location was perfect to break up our drive back from Key West. Island Grill was about a mile away and a nice easy walk for a great dinner.
We had stopped in Key Largo on our drive down and was disappointed with our hotel there. On the way back we changed up our plans and stayed here at Pelican Cove. BEST decision. The location was peaceful and beautiful. Everything was clean and comfortable. We were able to take out the kayaks with ease, and the property was beautiful. We opted for the ocean view room, and sitting on the balcony at dusk was perfect.

Nice hotel on water

Posted 30-Mar-2016
Good stay. Excellent waterfront with kayaks and bikes included at no extra charge. Good breakfast included. Cleaning missed one day. Missed the hot tub that was there two years ago. Modern room decor less warm and friendly.

In the Keys it Depends....

Posted 25-Mar-2016
Pros: water sports. Bar is decent but not open late. Then again nothing in the keys is open too late. Good beach gear with hammocks
Cons: Breakfast was only until 10 AM. A few cloudy windy days we slept past it - our choice I guess
Location: Theater of the Dolphins is walking distance, fishing charters are on site, good restaurants. The keys are very accessible if you drive.
It was my first time to the Keys. What I did learn is that high end 5 star resorts are quite few (Cheeca Lodge being one). Most places to stay are Mom and Pop establishments, I think of Wildwood NJ in that they are older, well maintained, preserve an era and are more reminiscent of roadside motels than B&B's. Pelican is in the middle. It is a multi unit condo/hotel. The are nice but not spectacular. Price is good. They have a heated pool, ocean access, and tons of free water sports (kayak, fishing rods, paddle boards, water bikes, regular bikes), which makes it good for kids.

Pros: Location, staff
Cons: Mentioned above in comments
Hotel in great location - convenient to seeing sights in area. Lacking character. Minimal decor, but clean. Odd bathroom sink faucet configuration and odd connection to toilet plumbing. Needs a small nightstand on both sides of bed. Staff very helpful and friendly.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I'm coming back!!!

Posted 06-Mar-2016
Hotel staff upon arrival were awesome. Helpful! There's a heated pool, beach activities, tiki bar, beautiful view, beautiful grounds, clean room, clean and wonderful everywhere! Continental breakfast is served outdoors at the tiki bar. Lots and lots of chairs at the water- so no worries about seating! They have a few awesome hammocks by the water that we were able to lay in for a couple of hours! I booked another hotel but left due to being unhappy with everything from the start, so we were only able to spend our last day here but I absolutely cannot wait to return here. Anyone who says this place isn't great is super high maintenance! Shula's restaurant a couple of doors down was incredible!! They had everything I wanted and it was all great!!

Nice location

Posted 27-Feb-2016
Pros: Hotel is right on the ocean , so location is great ! Outside area is very nice . Plenty of outside seating & lounging areas.
Cons: I was alittle disappointed by the room size for the cost . Bed was very comfortable , but very minimal furniture & bathrooms although updated -small
Location: Location great -- I think alittle quieter than a lot of the areas . They have kayaking , swimming & beach area . Need to drive to most restaurants .
We stayed at Pelican Cove for 1 week & enjoyed our stay . Staff is very friendly & helpful ! We enjoyed just lounging around & taking in the sun & beauty of the ocean ! It's about a 2 hour drive down to Key West ( would highly recommend ) . We were surprised how crazy busy restaurants are all through the Keys ! Very hard to get into ( especially near sunset !) Keys are an amazing place -- fun to explore !!!

Fees

Posted 27-Feb-2016
Daily Resort fee of $25 is not optional and the "Bed Tax" of 5% is redundant; I paid $225 for a bed! And 7.5% sales tax.

Great staff, beautiful location, nice dive shop right next door. We wished we would have stayed here another day or two.
