The property was under construction. The area was good and very close to city center and supermarket. It was difficult to find the place on google map.

Do not get this hotel. Find something else
Horrible not clean no available pillows limited towels. Noise until 20:30 in our door. Employee building a closet right by our door from 15:00 to 20:30 shower head broken. Bathroom’s door broken. TV not working. No available water or drink. Smells horrible. It was not clean at all. Electric and plumbing exposed. Elevator not working. You need to go up 3 floors by stairs with luggage. When elevator working only one person or two to use. Very dirt building. Reception was not nice or helpful. But a lot of sorry all the time but not effective. Others Guest complaints about not haven’t water for shower. Terrible place I will recommend to be out of there. Oh overthere was a construction around the area (not hotel fault but nevertheless nothing is done to minimize a bit of situation or advise you of anything, well if can call it a hotel very badly managed by amateurs, if expressed your disappointment the receptionist will yelling at you and expressing intimidating words toward you, also there no way to take our luggage near to hotel after you find a parking yourselves and dragging your luggage about 200-300 meters away because parking around is not permit only to local residents. And the construction make unbearable and dangerous to yourselves. Immediately find another hotel is my recommendation

It is indeed an unusual property, a very old-fashioned, one-floor hotel on the third floor of a building which houses other businesses. For clients not accustomed to this type of family-run hotel, it can seem a bit unusual yet it common in many Italian cities.. The check-in is a man at a small desk, not a counter. There is then one corridor and the rooms. My room was very clean, quiet, very good air conditioning, great water pressure/shower, comfortable bed. The man at the desk, the proprietor was very nice and helpful. The building and facilities are old, to be clear. The location is at the edge of the historic center beyond Piazza San Marco, at Piazza Libertà, a well-car trafficked area. There are a few restaurants nearby. For clients wishing to stay in the more beautiful center, this hotel seems remote although is is only a 10-12 minute walk to Piazza Duomo on Via Cavour. It served my purposes of a 3-day stay for work. The wifi was typically weak but it functioned. The elevator is also old-fashioned, quite small, typical of old buildings in Italy In all, in spite of the slight strangeness of the place, it was a good stay with no problems. Thank you.

Grazie. Crediamo che sia un commento giusto. Per noi manca soltanto un suo accenno che l'hotel è molto economico in rapporto soprattutto alla posizione centrale ( 10/12 minuti dal Duomo camminando )

A small old basic hotel in a walkable distance
The hotel is on the 3rd floor (a different hotel on the 2nd floor). You can either take the stairs of the tiniest lift I’ve ever seen in my life. If you’re travelling with suitcases or little kids with pushchair, you won’t fit in as you have to physically close the lift’s folding doors behind you. Bathroom I must say is a nightmare, the water was boiling (can’t change temperature) and the drain was blocked. I couldn’t tell anyone the following morning as there was no one at the reception. Location wise is good for backpackers, 10-15 minutes to Accademia Gallery on foot (on the same street).

Overall the hotel was okay however we were disappointed with two aspects of our stay. When we arrived we had to pay a 'city fee' of €10 (which I'm not even sure is real). It wasn't specificed on the website which is the annoying thing. The second disappointment was the breakfast, just don't take the breakfast option. We paid €20 for basically nothing and were told 'breakfast is finished' when we arrived in the alloted time. Just avoid the breakfast option...

Nice hotel within blocks of central Florence
My stay at the hotel was great. The hotel occupies one floor on a multistory building (and shares a breakfast room with the hotel a flight down) but for what you pay it's a great find. The location is great and is just a few blocks from the main tourists sites of the city without being in an overcrowded area. The owner of the hotel was friendly and helpful and I felt quite welcome at the hotel. My favorite part of the breakfast buffet downstairs was getting a cappuccino specially made by the server/clerk each morning. The main negatives about the hotel were that the shower was extremely tiny and that I couldn't get the air conditioning to cool off the room enough in July (95-100 degrees). Otherwise I would stay here in a minute!

Cheap budget hotel
A good 15 min walk from the piazza del duomo. Not far but can get tedious if you prefer easier access to your hotel. The owner was very nice and speaks good english. The room was small but very clean.Bathroom was quite small. There was air conditioning inside the room. The hotel is in a shared building, on the 4th floor. Elevator is old fashioned and small, you might not fit if you carry big luggage. Overall this is great value for the money you pay. Also make sure you call in ahead of time if you are doing early check in!

The man who we checked in with was extremely helpful and showed us where everything was on a map and provided said map for free. We thought we were getting a shared bathroom but we had private one for no extra cost. Location was ok. Not central but everywhere in Florence is close so still walking distance. There was an odd smell but it wasn't too bad. Sometimes the elevator wouldn't work if the door was left open and it was three stories of stairs to climb which wasn't a problem for us but could be concerning for others. Besides those small details it was a great deal and well worth it.

Comfortable but basic
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Gallerie dell Accademia and the Duomo, so fairly central. We paid for a shared bathroom but were actually given a private one which was great. Everything was very clean and free AC and wi-fi was included which we took advantage of. The room itself however was extremely basic; it definitely needed some retouching and a bit of decoration. The room was also really small, so that around the double bed there wasn't a great deal of space to move around in. The rooms look out onto a little square which had scaffolding up on it, so we couldn't actually open our window to let the light in. This was probably the biggest disappointment for us, as when we got back to our hotel after a long day when it was still light outside, we had to turn on the room lights which made the room feel really stuffy. Overall though, for Florence prices we ultimately got what we paid for!

Good location, tiny bathroom and uncomfortable bed
The saying you get what you pay for definitely applies to Hotel Genzianella. The hotel is in a good location about a 15 minute walk to the major museums and sites. The room itself is somewhat spacious, but the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. The mattress is about 4 inches thick and rests on top of a metal frame with metal springs. The bed is like those you see in the army during boot camp. The shower was tiny and there were no shelves or racks in the bathroom to put your toiletries. We stayed in a room that faced the street, and the morning traffic woke us up every morning. If you're on a tight budget and don't mind some discomforts, then Hotel Genzianella is probably OK given its competitive rates versus other hotels in the area. If I had known then what I do now, I would have paid a little more for another hotel with a better bed and bathroom.

Run down, looks nothing like pictures on website
Arrived to a dingy room with holes in the wall and floor. It looked nothing like the pictures on the website which showed basic rooms but with nice decor. I realise that a hotel close to the centre of Florence attracts a premium but unless you are happy to compromise it is not worth the money, a nearby hilton with free shuttle only cost £25 more per night. Had booked for 2 nights but left after 1. The owner/worker handled this request well.

Never recommend it to somebody
I believe the owner did not spend even one dollar to buy new equipment for this hotel. All furniture are second hand, broken and so uncomfortable.

Overall a very pleasant visit
Our stay was overall very pleasant. Only one complaint: the windows are old and leaky so the room is quite cold when it's not summer and the there is a lot of noise coming from the road just outside.

En la página se decía que se cobraría un impuesto de 2 euros por persona y por día y al momento de llegar se me cobro 3 euros, el encargado de la recepción eso si es muy amable. Por otro lado el wifi no llegaba en la habitación que me encontraba y las toallas no se cambiaban a diario. Pero en general por el precio esta muy bien ya que tiene baño privado y televisor. Además la ubicación esta bien.

Very noisy, not better than a hostel
Not better than a hostel. The staff was very helpful, Pablo, the manager, is a very nice and gentle man, however, the conditions of the hotel were not good, super noisy that we couldnt sleep any night, so they changed us to other hotel downstairs with smaller rooms. The room size was fine with private bathroom but without maintenance.

Отель понравился( только ночевали в нем). Отличное месторасположение к центру города( недалеко академия изящных искусств). Тихая улица.Отель находится на третьем этаже( есть лифт).Встречает радушный хозяин( по вашей просьбе расскажет о достопримечательностях,и где можно покушать).Номер был довольно просторным и чистым, имелся даже холодильник. В ванной есть все принадлежности за искл. фена( его можно попросить).Однозначно буду рекомендовать его.
