With the fortunes of the Donati family waning, the tower was incorporated in the second half of the 16th century into the palace of the Albizi, a family of Florentine merchants and bankers who long rivaled the Medici for city supremacy. From the Albizi, the palace then passed in the 18th century to the Tassinari family and finally in 1929 to the family of the present owners. The apartments, located on a very central and ancient street, as well as the entire palace and tower, are of great historical interest and bound by the Superintendence of Artistic and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. It is therefore the ideal place to immerse yourself in the history and beauty of Florence's Golden Age. The Torre Donati apartments are ideally located within walking distance of Florence's most important sights and museums: among others, the Basilica of Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello Museum, the Duomo with Giotto's Bell Tower, the Medici Chapels in San Lorenzo, the Accademia Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, as well as Palazzo Pitti, the church of Santo Spirito, and the Boboli Gardens on the Arno River. The apartment was very sophisticated and well appointed. The terrace view is exceptional looking left to San Croce and right to the Duomo. The tower is very nice with an excellent lift. The area is perfect in a pedestrian area and close to small piazza. We would love to come back and stay in this apartment! ##### Phil B. Our hosts were so helpful, informative, charming and delightful that I’m sure they ordered the full moon over our view of the Duomo just for our pleasure. Our location was perfect. Everything was in walking distance: the Academia, the Ufizzi, the Ponte Vecchio. I felt as if we were guests of a Florentine noble family our accommodation was so simply elegant. Also, many restaurants, markets, and grocers easily reached on foot. There is a large farmer’s market only a few blocks away as well. The terrace has amazing views and the inside is perfect for 4 people. The lift works faster than I would expect and the hosts, Stephano and Antonella are so kind, had great recommendations. ##### Amy W. The lift was great for one of our guests who was 80\. The hosts were extremely helpful upon check in, giving us lots of tips for Florence. The apartment had all we needed and we loved the balcony space. What a view! Terrace view was spectacular! personal Interaction with owner a bit odd and after we confirmed payment price via VRBO, he then required some cash upon arrival for “cleaning” fees which is outside of VRBO procedure per call into VRBO. It is very tastefully decorated and has all of the modern amenities (A/C, dishwasher, clothes washer, wifi). Stefano and Antonella were kind and generous hosts, providing many thoughtful touches and good suggestions. We would love to stay at this apartment again next time we are in Firenze. Our hosts, Antonella and Stefano, were wonderful. Stefano met us on arrival, spending time giving us insights into the best places to visit, eat and drink in the neighbourhood and across Florence. The kitchen was perfect for cooking and the terrace was our favourite space with the most amazing views across the city, overlooking Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo and more. We felt like we were really living in Florence. We highly recommend staying here and would definitely come back. ##### Thomas P. The location was great. It was just outside of the chaotic area around the Duomo and in an area that was very lively at night with many restaurants and bars. The apartment is even nicer than the pictures suggested. The rooms are spacious and updated. The views from the patio were tremendous. At night it was quiet even with almost no noise heard from the nightlife not far away. The elevator worked well when carrying luggage or at the end of a long day. Antonella and Stefano were gracious hosts. They had a number of good dining recommendations. I've already suggested the place to friends. A+ ##### Max N. The kitchen and bathroom were fantastic, the beds were comfortable however due to extreme heat during our stay sleeping was difficult. There is air conditioning in main entry room but not in bedrooms. Our daughters ended up pulling mattress to main room to sleep. A fan in bedrooms would be very beneficial for sleeping. Host had a list of activities and restaurants in area which was lovely. Was a wonderful ending to our Italian vacation. ##### Sharon K.
