The Hotel Griffon is a great little hotel in a fabulous downtown SF location. We were attending a conference in the downtown so were able to walk or take public transport to all of our destinations. The Ferry Building is a couple of blocks away with a farmer's market, great restaurants and shopping. We took the BART from the SF airport and only had to walk a couple of blocks to the Hotel Griffon. Staff at the hotel are cheerful, efficient and happy to help. Complimentary Pete's coffee in the lobby is a definite asset as well. We also dined in Perry's, the restaurant at the hotel. We had a really good meal there and the waiter was alot of fun. Front desk staff arranged car transport back to the airport for us. It was on time and a fair price.
When we return to SF, we will definiately stay at the Hotel Griffon.

Voted Best San Francisco Boutique Hotel and *Best 24 Hour Getaway* by San Francisco Magazine; Hotel Griffon is the ideal …More
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times, but this time got upgraded to a room with an amazing view of Coit Tower and North Beach. This hotel is our favorite in San Francisco! Erin, the guy who checked us in, was amazingly helpful!
It's sort of a hostel, with community bathrooms. But, both the guests and staff were cool. It's in a great location if you want to explore the Barbary Coast. Not too far from Fisherman's Wharf or the Embarcadero. My magnetic room card key didn't open the door after taking a shower, but I just had a friendly maid open my room for me. That was the first that's happened to me after staying there 3 times.
Despite the Restaurant Remodel and the Road Construction, we were very impressed with this Hotel. The Staff was welcoming and helpful. As we were checking out, I had left my Coat hanging in the closet and a Member of the Staff RAN from our room to catch us at the Elevator to return my coat. We were at the opposite end of the Hotel from the Elevators!
Pocket Guide: San Francisco Financial District - Ferry Building Hotels
The bulls and bears of industry tread the streets of the Financial District, home to the city’s tallest buildings, including the iconic Transmerica Pyramid. The towers give way to The Embarcadero, the broad, palm-lined avenue that begins at the San Francisco Giant’s AT&T Park and ends at Fisherman’s Wharf. The road passes by the Ferry Building, a landmark transformed into an artisanal food market.
