Lake Louise Inn

Lake Louise Inn

8/10 Good
"Perfect Basecamp and Nice Facilities, but "Sleeps 8" Loft is Not for Adult Groups The location of [Lake Louise Inn] is absolutely perfect. It served as an ideal basecamp for our trip, allowing us to easily drive out to the Columbia Icefield, Emerald Lake, and downtown Banff for dinner. Crucially, the location made it easy for us to drive up and secure parking at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise by 7:00 AM for our teahouse hike. The property facilities are nice, and the downstairs Murphy bed was very comfortable. However, the layout of the bedroom-and-loft suite is highly misleading for a group advertised to sleep 8 people. The main bedroom features a severely sloping wall that is tough for anyone tall. More importantly, the second bedroom—outfitted with a single-over-full bunk bed meant to sleep 3 adults—is an extremely small box. With the bed against one wall and a dresser on the other, you only get about 1.5 to 2 feet of walking space. It is fine for small children, but completely unusable for grown adults. Due to the cramped space, the couple traveling with us could not use their room and had to sleep on the downstairs Murphy bed, losing all their privacy. We only managed because we had 7 people and a few petite members in our group. I flagged this inaccurate room description to the front desk at checkout."

"Room was not cleaned. Hair in the bath tub/shower water stains on the sink taps. The walkway to get the room ( outside) 2nd floor was patched up with plywood. Didn’t feel safe to me. Went back to get refund and still waiting for it. Said they would do it right away and that was 10-12 days ago."

Mountaineer Lodge

Mountaineer Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed at the Mountaineer for two nights so we could maximize our time exploring the Lake Louise area, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. We originally booked because of its fantastic location—it made it easy to walk to one of the early shuttle pick-up times for both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, and it also gave us a great head start for driving the Columbia Icefields Parkway after checkout. What we didn't expect were all the little extras that made our stay even better! From the moment we checked in, we were welcomed with fresh cookies, coffee, tea, and water in the lobby. After long days of hiking, the hot tub, conveniently located near our room, was exactly what our sore muscles needed. The breakfast was excellent and offered at a very reasonable price. We also loved the room itself. The extra-thick, silky sheets made for an incredibly comfortable night's sleep. Having both a mini fridge and a freezer was so convenient, and there were plenty of hooks, shelves, and counter space throughout the room and bathroom to keep all of our travel gear organized. We booked the Mountaineer for its location, but we left appreciating so much more. The thoughtful amenities, comfortable accommodations, and excellent value made our stay even better than expected. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Louise!"
