The building is remarkable and the staff are excellent. It's a very laid back quite feel. Not much to do around the Pousada, but an excellent place to get a bit of rest, recharge and enjoy the local wine. the building is really special.

Amazing property. Front desk staff was underwhelming; felt like we were imposing on them. The staff in the hotel was just the opposite, though, and very welcoming. We came for the uniqueness of the property and that fully met our expectations. Not much to do in the immediate local area, but good hiking nearby.

Hotel is a bit isolated/difficult to get to but worth the effort. Located in a very small village. Not too far from Braga which is worth visiting. Also not very far from Porto airport.

According to the website I had reserved a room with a double bed and two single beds. The room we got was nothing like that. It was very small with a temporary single bed very small, and not adequate size for an adult. When I talked to the hotel about it, they told me that there is not a room with the two single beds and a double bed. If that is the case, the Expedia site was incorrect.

A great stay at an amazing hotel. The hotel and grounds of this converted monastery are magical. The food at the restaurant was delicious (breakfast and dinner). The hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The room was modern, clean and luxurious. At the time of our visit the only other restaurant is about a 10km drive in the event you don't want to eat at the hotel. A great place for a special occasion or just to experience something very different.

Amazing dream became true!!!
My fiancee and I just came back from this little Paradise, knowing that we will be back very soon. From the GM, Ms. Pinto to Nino at Front Desk and the team all around the Hotel, everybody ensured that everything was perfect... Congratulations!!! Just a couple little details into F&B, which I am sure they will work very soon on them, to guarantee that everything will be "over the moon"!. Beautiful Accomodation and Excellent Service
Beautiful accommodation and grounds in a historic monastery. Service was fantastic. Food was excellent. Parking was plentiful and free. Town is pretty convenient: it has a couple of restaurants, convenience stores and bars and is close to the Peneda-Geres National Park.

This is a very lovely hotel and the staff was very nice. I couldn't give it top marks because of the following; it is difficult to find, they need better signage in the area, the rug in our room was filthy with large, dirty spots. Room access can be awkward as the stairs are not contiguous, and the elevator is tiny and only holds a few people. So, if you are handicapped ask for a ground floor room. On the plus side the National Forest is beautiful, and the cathedral is awesome. We even had a lovely, young woman volunteer to give us a tour.

An overall good experience
This is not a five star resort, keep in mind, but a converted monastery. Really enjoyed the history attached and walking around the courtyard gave you a sense of the life two hundred years ago. Beautiful grounds. We were there in September so were surrounded by orange, fig, quince and chestnut trees. It appears they were decorative as fruit was allowed to drop on the ground rather than harvested. Mattress could be better, maybe use a mattress topper. Restaurant food was mediocre, I would certainly go for the daily special as that could be something fresh (I had a veal shoulder chop that was actually quite good). It is a very large menu and often for me this means plenty of frozen stuff. Breakfast was decent although nothing special. Overall a good experience.

We got here late in the afternoon after a long drive and were made feel very welcome. Room was fantastic with a view to the hills. If you are looking for a place to chillout or use as a base for all the walks in Geres Park I would highly recommend it.

Medieval Monastery Near Peneda-Geres National Park
This hotel is situated in a remodeled medieval monastery. It is absolutely gorgeous. Plus the food offered in the restaurant is delicious and comprised of local cuisine. In addition, this hotel is a quick drive from the Peneda-Geres National Park.

Great views and amazing historic building
Very nice and unusual setting - inside the old monastery. All original features are well preserved, such as old kitchen table in the dining room, huge fireplace, etc. Amazing views of the hills and countyside! Very kind and attentive service. Rooms are a bit small though, which is understandable, giving the location. But they could be better appointed, for example it was quite uncomfortable to use the bathroom, because to open the door you had to close the wardrobe and vice versa...

Very serene escape on a twisting mountain
If you're looking for a serene weekend away, this is definitely the spot to go. The architect did a fantastic job capturing the monastic quality as the pousada as quite simple but beautiful. The rooms are efficient and modern but small. If you're looking for a resort with several options, this may not be the best spot for the exact same reason mentioned above. If you're looking to read and have some quiet time in a beautiful environment, this place is not to be missed. The location is on the top of a beautiful mountain and the twisting drive is also part of the experience. Make sure you have a car that handles well! The food in restaurant was slightly expensive but of very high quality. The atmosphere in the restaurant makes up for the slightly high prices.. The wait staff was good but not overly friend- It's worth nothing that this may have been due to the fact that we spoke very little Portuguese. We had breakfast here each day as well which was quite lovely. As an aside, we walked to the nearby restaurant which was above average and very affordable.

Excellent and beautiful hotel in an amazing setting, The staff was wonderful. The hotel restaruant was excellent. Don't forget to back your bathing suit (like I did) because you will be very disappointed that you don't get to swim in the beautiful pool! Worth every penny, highly recommended.

Eindrucksvolles Hotel in altem Kloster. Hervorragend eingepasst. Alles vom Feinsten. Etwas vom Schuss aber perfekt zum Relaxen. Bei den Kochkünsten hapert es allerdings ein wenig. Der Service erscheint ein wenig übertrieben.

Gute Lage für Besichtigung in Nordportugal
ehemaliges Kloster; historische Atmosphäre, sehr ländliche Lage; bis nach Braga sind es 40 Minuten , daher sollte man im Hotel auch zu Abend essen (sehr schöne Räumlichkeit). Zimmer ist einfach ausgestattet.
