i enjoyed the walk to the grange from the main reception and the room was a nice size and on the surface clean and pleasant. However i noticed bad maintenance in some areas, particularly in the bathroom. i didnt eat there so can't say anything about the food. pleasant environment makes it a nice place for a relaxing weekend break, i could walk for hours just round the ground. If you can forgive chipped plaster and bad grouting/filling then go for it.
"Unique - beautiful historic country Manor/Estate "
A unique experience where you feel privileged to be staying given its history and the experience of staying where Queen Elizabeth 1 once stayed, although the building has changed/improved since then. This may not be the Savoy or an ultra modern Westin or Hilton, but it oozes character and the buildings and grounds are magnificent. The room had everything one needs and the bed exceptional.
I regret I arrived too late to dine but the breakfast was superb - lots of choice and abundant quality.
I have stayed in some very prestigious hotels all over the world this year but for overall character and quality this one ticked all of the boxes for me especially as I like to be in the country rather than the city.
It was great in December but I guess it would be even better in the summer given the grounds.

Does what it says on the can. Cleanc spacious a bit noisy and pillows hard. No staff but every thing was in its place and although I stayed there only one night but was noisy at it was a former office block of the 70s or 80s and positioned for ease. The car park is a mess.
We stayed there the night before our way back home from the Heathrow Ariport. The location and the price are excellent. Many restaurant accessible by short walk. The hotel is in excellent condition and so are the room and matress.
